Royal Canin MC Kitten 36: how much for a 7 months MC kitten?

Hello, I'm feeding my 2 MC kitten with Royal Canin MC kitten 36. They are brother and sister, the male Baloo weight about 4,3 Kg and the female BlueBelle weight 3 Kg. Since some days ago they was able to eat about 85 gr. for each at day but now they eat about 60 gr./day. I'm a little bit in troubles for that behaviour because RC say that they should eat about 100 gr./day... Because they have food available all day I can't say if the male or the female eat more but I guess that Baloo is that one has reduced his food consumption. He is healthy and he play normally with his sister so I can't think that he has some health troubles so can't figure out the reason of this reduction in food consumption. Last day, with the goal to better check his health, I've been to his vet but, after that she has checked him, she said me that all seem ok and that the only thing that she has noticed is that his definitive teethes are growing just right now so he has gums a little bit "red" but that should not be a problem... So, due to the fact that he is bigger than his sister, could be that he changed his ratio of grow and now he is eating less than is sister? If someone has kittens of the same age and use the same food could tell me how much they eat every 24h? My cats are keep in apartment so they don't burn a lot of energy because they don't have many room to run and so on... Thanks to all for attentions!

When Whiskey was 6 months old my vet advised switching him from kitten food to Royal Canin Maine Coon 31 formula. He's had great success with this food. The kibble is larger so he has to bite into it which helps his teeth. We don't measure his food. We keep dry food in his bowl all the time. In the morning and at dinner he gets 1 heaping teaspoon of can food. We also give him a treat every few days.

Is strange that Royal Canin suggest to feed ours MC kitten with MC kitten 36 till about 15 months of age because also for me, like for your vet, size 36 became smaller for their mouth after 6/7 months of age. I say that because the last package that I used before that one that is now in use was different from standard (size of kibble was bigger, about 30% more than now) and cats were forced to brake them by their teeth before eat. My idea is that was good for them in fact, at now, the female BlueBelle eat kibbles without brake them and this behaviour is not good. This in term of size of kibbles but what about their ingredients? Do you think that is good for cats that are not yet adult eat kibbles prepared for adult cat? At now I have about 6 Kg. of RC dry food but discussion could be useful for next weeks when I will need to buy the new package... Also my cats have dry food available all time, I measure it when I refill their bowls so I know every day how is their consumption of food. About every 2 day I give them some can food, about 70 gr. split in two parts. I'm using Almo Nature can food but they are not so enthusiast of it so I will try other major brands during next weeks.

For me it is hard to say what is best food out there. I've read so much & been told so much by different vets & breeders. For Whiskey the Royal Canin MC 31 adult helped his onset of gingivitis and his stinky mushy poo. When he was about 6.5 months the vet that neutered him recommended we switch to the MC 31 as it would help his digestion and the gingivitis The vet felt kitten food was too rich for him and his stomach had a hard time processing it. Once we switched, he improved in both areas. His teeth are fine and his poo doesn't make us want to fumigate our home. Other vets have examined him since and his health is fine. So I feel switching to adult food before the recommendation on the bag did not effect his development. Whiskey will be 2 in April.

Thanks to everyone for the tips - I have now switched to MC 31 2 days ago! I have to order it online though, because I cannot find it in my area...

I'm thinking to give a try at RC Maine Coon 31 kibbles. Next time, when I will order something for cats, I will add a package of RC MC 31 (the small one - 400 gr) with the goal to try them. Cats are not so easy so I need to understand if they will like! So they will test flavour and size, if all will be ok maybe I will start to feed them with it. My female, who is smaller in size compare to her Brother, doesn't like chew kibbles at all! It's strange because her mouth is not so bigger... I guess that her habit is no good for her stomach and it will involve more time to digest kibbles.
