Preferably make him a secure garden or let him go out on a lead. One of new owners of our kittens said the same about rural area and cars. After 10 months we have recived information so kitten had a car accident and unfortunatelly died. No worth to risk in my opinion...
Remember about full vaccinations and flea treatment if you let him go out.
