Cat Carrier

Does anyone own a soft carrier for their MC?

Was looking at this one...

Think it would be any good? The description says '600 denier polyester, 1000 denier on the corners' which is apparently similar to luggage material. Can hold up to 25lbs.

I have one made by sof krate,looks just about the same,24" x 16" x16" & its brilliant,plus added bonus that it will fold away,I still have the white wire ones as well,a couple of mine seem to travel better in those,don't know if it is because they can see out more or they actually feel safer with rigid sides & a smaller space to move around in but the likes of Shimba or Merlyn luv the other one.

It's an American product so you may have better luck finding it cheaper :smile:

Been looking something for multiple cats for the car, but not having much luck.

In the meantime I did find this - which is "cool" in principle, but I suspect too small for our MCs when grown up:

Anything of the size of the sof krate we use should give plenty of room for just about any size MC,Shimba who is on par weight wise with Merl but longer goes in & still has room to stretch & move about,Merl when he uses it stretches out to begin with but when he realises it is going to be a long journey he goes to the back & curls up so small I think he would nearly look lost in the smaller wire carriers ! Going to a show Shimba travels on my lap with harness on but coming home both he & Welly can travel very comfortably together in the krate,just needs one either side on the handles to stand a chance of moving them....
At the shows you very often see smaller cats in the carriers with wheels & people with lots of cats have them in individual cages on trolleys but the carriers with smaller wheels look as if they give the animal a very bumpy ride,the wheels look very much like those on suitcases & we all know how they rattle over uneven ground so other than good old muscle power the answer may be Candes's last suggestion.

Luv it....although I think it would have been ok to have carried on with the other thread even though a bit belated,it seems as if there are more people ready to commit their views on the forum nowadays,sadly though some that used to pop up frequently seem to have disappeared but I think its great seeing all the different ideas especially about carriers having suffered from the one arm longer than the other syndrome,still wish I had a photo of the man trying to pick up carrier with Shimba in it,his face when it didn't leave the ground was priceless...!

Hopefully someone will pop up & say they have one & tell you the size of it,being non returnable you want to be pretty safe or it could become a very expensive hobby,the floor surface of our carrier gives them plenty of room ,in fact daughter always has both of hers in the same carrier of that size & they are both big cats & they always look comfortable so being only a couple of inches shorter there should still be ample of room....

I think the size will be fine,he loves stretching out at home but I bet when he is out in that he will either be sitting or laying more upright to take note of things & if he does decide to nod he will still be able to lay out pretty flat anyway,perhaps just a little tuck,its not as if it is his permanant sleeping quarters...

These are expensive. but look good. I may do for the "Extra Large with Divider" with an option to put an optional litter tray in the second half for potentially longer journeys - which I don;t expect to do:

In my reality the only likely trips they are to make are en masse to the local vet in the back of the car. *BUT* I want something that can be collapsed and stored somewhere flat packed. I have very little indoor storage space (says the single man plus lodger in a 3 bed semi...).
