Our little lad is booked in next Weds for the snip - hubby is crossing his legs already!
I've no doubt it will all be fine, just hope that the vets are a bit more careful with the tracheal tube this time, could do without a repeat of poor Gracie's experience :grr:
Poor Monty & I bet he is proud of them as well.Just remind them very politely of the problem Gracie had & fingers crossed it won't happen again.
Weird how the men always associate their parts with that of the animal,we very often have the women bring in the animal for their castration op as the other half can't even bear to think about it,lets face it a couple of quick nicks & a tug,job done,lot easier for the male species.
Will be thinking of him next Wednesday....x
If Monty develops low self-esteem after his surgery, this could be a solution;

Surgery for females is more difficult due to abdominal incision. I worried about my kitties before and during their operation. I even asked the vet's front office to call me at work as soon as the surgery was over. Then we had a rehab department in our house. At first I tried Elizabethian's collars, but soon came up with my own substitute. My method was so much better tolerated by girls that I shared it with my vet who may or may not use it (depending if he wants to sell collars)
I used my husband's old sweatshirt's sleeves to make post-op vests :

I know it's off topic - and good luck to all those seeing the vet! - but those jerseys are sooo cute. If they were black then the cats would look like David Niven in the Pink Panther - cat burglars, for real :)
I think you are right Candes,we are happy people who own MC's,even when you are sitting here sneezing,nose running,eyes running & now having a coughing fit after chuckling at Halycon's pictures we can still be happy,especially when its no work today & I can have more "cat time".
I think it is a brilliant idea using the sleeve of an old sweatshirt,at work we hardly ever use the collars because we find it very often upsets the animal more & we don't tend to give them out anyway for routine ops unless it looks as if there could be a problem,we do have post op coats but normally tell people to use old Tshirts with dogs,with cats we have found baby grows work quite well because of the smallness in size you can get,leg of tights is another but now have something new to add to list....

Hey Candes, that is sooooo true! My OH used to suffer terribly with grouchiness and short temper, he tends to get very het up about modern life, like the 'grumpy old men' on the TV show. Just look at it this way. The other day Tatja jumped from the scratching barrel with such force it tipped over, shattering two large Areca palms in their pots. Looking at the ravage, hubby and I shrugged and said: “Oh well, they’re big strong cats. It was to be expected.” We cleaned up the mess and started designing an extra-sturdy climbing ‘solution’ to replace the old barrel. (Hope to show some results soon.)
@Halcyon: I looooove them in the sleeves! To add to Peter’s comment… if they had sequins it would be like David Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust days.
@Rachel: Don’t mean to make you feel uneasy, but ‘no balls’ El Monto still keeps trying the hanky-panky with little Minnie. But then again he’s not the brightest of cats. Sweet but silly.

hi there, i have a male mainecoon who is nuts!! but in a good way.He is 18weeks old at the moment,..my contract with breeder states i must have his MANCOONS off by 6 months old ,when should i book him in for the op??
