Update on Paddington

Hello all,

It seems like ages ago now i was writing on here about Paddington (previously named Jolly) coming home. He is a little angel and has settled in beautifully.

We have made the decision to buy another MC and collect her on the 19th of January. She is a pure white and from the same breeder. She is Paddingtons half sister. Awww.

Here is a recent photo of Paddington.....

He is currently weighing in at 7.25lbs at 4 months, and 1 week old. He was 2.1lbs when we picked him up at 12 weeks old.

Awww, he's just gorgeous - and definitely has the "nooooo, I'm not chewing anything mum, honest" look about him.

Bet you can't wait to bring his sister home - that's so exciting!

Hi, so great to hear your news. Really glad you stuck with the name Paddington, I love it! The new kitten sounds wonderful. Our breeder has recently added a solid white male to her 'keepers', and he's gorgeous...maybe next time! Do post some pics when you can xxx

What a great photo, he looks so cute. We've got one of those Kong Kickers and they're pretty large toys, so it's a good barometer for how much he's growing!

And what exciting news about your new arrival - 19th is not far off at all! Looking forward to seeing pics of her when she arrives:smile:

He sure is lovely... wonderful markings on his face. :smile:
Good to hear he has grown so much. So in less than two weeks he'll have a companion, lucky guy! I'm looking forward to seeing pics of him and his sister. :nod:

Paddington loves his kickeroo! It saves our arms from nibbles because when he gets a bit 'chewy' we tell him off then play with him with his kickeroo!

Here is a photo of his half sister! I cant believe we collect her next week! We took Paddington back to the breeder the other day so he could meet her and there was lots of hissing and spitting. :( We have decided to call her Phoebe.

She is soooo sweet,what a lovely pair you are going to have,bet Paddington will feel happier meeting her on his own patch,he most probaly wondered why you were taking a big boy like him back to where there are "babies",too grown up for that now.
Its great that although their names both start with P they have different soundings,we came unstuck with two of ours & it took a few days to work it out,when the babes first came to us one was known as Boots,had been from the day he was born,we couldn't make out why the red & white boy ran shaking & hid up if we were correcting the baby,then the penny dropped,his name is Bruce,he only heard the "B" being emphasised & thought we were meaning him & he was getting more & more confused,changed baby to the front part of his name Welly,sorted,just took a few days for babe to readjust but worth it to give Big Unc peace of mind again......

Tomorrows the day........had a few delays (we were supposed to get her on Wednesday).

We collect Phoebe tomorrow!!!! 10am! Lets see how it goes with Paddington.....will upload pics!

Just caught up on this post, Jolly, and Phoebe is just lovely. How fluffy?!? Good luck for tomorrow - even if it does get a bit fraught, hang in there, it'll be worth it when they realise how much fun it is to have a fluffy playmate around. Keep us posted!! :smile:

Those days have slipped past quickly,what an exciting weekend for you,looking forward to seeing pictures along with everyone else,what with yours & not long afterwards Peter getting his three I think there will be a few broody people on here again....x

Phoebe looks adoreable and I am sure her and Paddington will be great together, I expect you will have a few days of adjustment, but I am sure everything will be fine. Look forward to seeing the photo's. Have a great day, I am soooo jealous and yes very broody

Wow! We finally have her home with us. She is hiding under the desk at the moment. Paddington has been a bit bitey and wont leave her alone.

We were advised by the breeder just to put them in together and let them sort their differences out in their own time, but its hard to watch :(

Honestly, it will be fine I promise! I do know what you mean about it being hard to watch though. Gracie was about Paddington's age when we brought Monty home and spent the first two days hissing and growling at him. Within a week they were sleeping on the same chair and a few days after that they were grooming each other. Now, just a couple of months later, they are partners in crime :LOL:

The one thing I didn't account for was Gracie's behaviour towards us for a month or so. She became very stand offish and sulky with us for bringing someone else into her spoilt only child existence. It didn't last long fortunately but I worried like hell that she'd never be the same again. I'm pretty sure others have experienced something similar so just something to be aware of if it happens to you - it too will pass.

Enjoy every minute, I look forward to seeing lots more piccies as little Phoebe settles in. Just you watch, I'll bet she'll have him eating out of her little furry paws in no time :drool1:

Couldn't agree more - I had exactly the same experience as Rach, only Freyja took nearly two weeks before she got to the grooming stage with Wicca. Every day was a tiny step forward, and it was so horrible to watch. Wicca wasn't concerned by Freyja's behaviour at all, but it was really difficult seeing our sweet natured Freyja so stressed and angry/upset, and like Rachel, I did have a real worry that it might affect her personality permanently. But within that two weeks, she started to get back to her old self, and really enjoyed playing peekaboo with someone that could actually hide their WHOLE body under the table, and not just their head...
But, also like Rachel, it took another couple of weeks before Freyja forgave ME for bringing someone new in, which really upset me. But after that first difficult month, we're now 4 months on and both cats are now very happy, they play together, sleep together, attack my feet under the duvet together, and get into trouble together. And both are very loving and affectionate to both me and OH, and all is well with the world.:smile:

Give it time, I've no doubts you'll get there. There are a couple of schools of thought around the best way to integrate them - Candes has mentioned one, and this gets a lot of support on the forum. The other way is to leave them to get on with it (not locked in a room together though - more like giving both cats the freedom of the house) and I've no idea which approach is the best but I took the latter. And we got there, in the end.

Hello! thank you all for your nice words!

Phoebe is settling in really well and running circles round Paddington. I have just let them get on with it and its worked really well.

Paddington follows her around chirping constantly, they are both very sweet!

Phoebe loves getting under the covers and clawing her way up and down your leg, me and OH have now resorted to tucking the duvet underneath us all around (so we look like a giant fajita) so she cant get in there!!

P.s the OH wrote "Keep out Paddingtons house" on that box. He made a box castle for Paddington when we first got him, lots of boxes all connected together with different levels! Very fun!!! I thought it was so funny that she is peering out from inside his box castle with those words written on the side!! LOL.
