Broken Tail
Our Lily came in from the rain last night and straight away we could see something wrong with her tail - it had a kink in it and she wasn't holding it high and over her back as normal. A visit to the vets this morning and we were told she had a break in it, but luckily it wan't a spinal cord injury. The vet said it could have been done when jumping over a fence and got caught. Poor Lily is grounded for a week and on antibiotics and painkillers for a week. Am seriously considering a fenced in area in the garden to stop her going out on the tiles - how or where do you get someone to build something to keep her in the garden but allowing her access to the outside?

Wishing her a speedy recovery

Poor Lily - I hope she gets well soon. Shows how important it is to keep them safe.
Ways of catproofing your garden are discussed in this thread.

We had a gardener put up an extra fence with a door in it which divides the garden into two areas – patio and “back garden”. Then we put netting on top of the new fence and part of the existing one, so that the patio is now a cat enclosure.
Alternatively, you could build a cat run, like this one:

Good luck!

We have converted half the car port on the side of the house to a cat pen with a flap that goes from sitting room out into it plus we are lucky enough to have a fairly small back garden so with a high fence & netting brought in a bit on top they have a safe haven to run around in while we are at home,I would say let your mind run riot, come up with some drawings & then have a word around to find a nice local handyman to put them into action, have fun & please post results so we can see Lily enjoying her safe haven...xxx

In the beginning I made a fence of 7 ft to "hold" him.He could easely go over it.Now he has 5 acres with a lower fence and he stays in there. We have huge trees and he uses them like a monkey to go everywhere. No I can not control him but he stays there .

She is such a determined little character and has already managed to escape through the front door today... luckily we live in a very quiet close and no busy roads nearby. I keep thinking even if we build a cat run, she will find a way of getting out as someone is always in and out and she is soo quick

thats what Lily does best, climb the tree in our garden and surveys her territory... not 5 acres worth unfortunately

What a life! I think my cats would be much happier if they were not in a Chicago condo. Luckily I have a lot of decks and terraces, but it's not the same as hopping from tree to tree.

Lily well and truely on the mend - tail up and purring like a goodun
