Oh no :sad2: hope he's ok. I think if you take the stamens (prob spelt wrong) they are ok to have in the house but not sure
I hope he's ok.... I never knew that either.
yes the vet told us they are a killer apparently they damage the kidney and cause renal failure and it happens very quickly i will let you know how he is when the vet phones me at 10.30 this morning but i will never have flowers again
Paws & claws crossed for Rooney x
So sorry about your cat hope the news is good today.I know a lot of flowers can cause illness of various degrees but in 38 years of working at a vets have never known a cat to ingest enough to kill them, vomiting & chronic diarrhoea yes. Some flowers it can be the bulb part that is most dangerous such as daffs,I have known us to loose a dog that had eaten several that the owner had dug up to replant, the flowers can cause tummy upsets as well, with lillies I think it is the tiger lily which is the worse for cats but any lily is barred from our house as one cat is asthmatic & if they are in the house for only a couple of minutes then she has bad breathing problems.
I haven't banned all flowers from the house as I love them too much but they are put on a fairly wide shelf out of cats way & also when petals start to drop they go on shelf rather than floor.
Do hope to see a good posting from you soon.
I had heard of this problem. Hope there is good news soon. xx
That's awful, hope Rooney is ok, is it the orange bit that falls off and staines everything ?
I think so if they digest it, say falls on their fur then they wash :sad2: also i think most of the plant is if eaten. We dont do house plants or flowers as I have no sence of smell but they look nice and the cats are always knocking things over so just dont bother anymore. We have some wooden one's
Any news yet Maz? hope he's ok x
thanks for all your kind words rooney is now home and a lot better than he was yesterday he has little bandages on his leg where the drip was i have to try and get a water sample and he goes back to the vets on tuesday morning he is also on antibiotics poor little thing hes only 5 months old i cant believe a flower could cause all this trouble:smile:
