So she's not technically swimming but she'll stare at her water dish and then put her foot in it and pull, like she's 'digging' the water. It's so funny to watch !:rofl:

Yes, Gryfn does that too.... or he will dig at the towel under the water dish while he's actually drinking...
 Louie used to sit in the dogs water bowl when he 1st arrived, he dosent fit now thank god
Sarah splashes with one paw and then changes to the other paw until there is sufficient water on the floor - I have a big bowl in the bathroom so only the tiles get wet.
I noticed Zack is already doing the same thing!!!!!
Sarah also goes in the shower when I get out and rolls around in the water.
Very strange behaviour!, I'd like to know exactly what they think they are doing, I was wondering if its something to do with bowl size/height, perhaps they think they can bring the water closer to them to make drinking easier.
Hank does it really often now and i feel sorry for him sometimes as we'll fill up his bowl, and see him wanting a drink but then he'll pull 90% of it out into the kitchen floor, then have a couple of sips and the bowls empty again.. I don't think he's keen on licking up the puddle he's since created tho so we'll have to clean it up and refill his bowl hoping he'll get more next time! :-)
Heather2mc Darcy plays in my water puddles from the shower too! She likes to Perch inthe bathtub and under the toilet also
dave Darcy so far has only done it when she's got an entire bowl full of water. I wonder if it has something to do with her reflection maybe?
I am sure this is a maine coon trait, I think it is what is commanly known as giving the parents more work to do,have to admit it does keep your floor clean,I have only one out of six that doesn't do it but she fills her mouth with water instead, walks away & then dribbles it all over the floor or if you are lucky over you.
My worse one though is the boy that lays with both front arms around the dome on the water fountain & gets whole top of his body & face wetas he tries to catch the air bubbles going up inside the dome, now when he walks away it is a whole different story, just put nice clean sheets on your bed mum, well I will rinse them for you again.....
Still luv em though !
I've enjoyed reading this thread. At first winston didn't show much interest in his water bowl but this has all changed. He now lies on his belly as close to the floor as he can get. and stares into his water bowl. Then very now and again he bats the water with his paw
Last week, early in the morning, he jumped up on the bed and placed a soggy paw on my cheek! Little Monkey
Dave - I dont think the water bowl size does anything - she has played with all of them!! I think the bigger - the more water can be splashed out
Cory1mc's cat I think sits in his bowl!!
Our old MC used to float his tail in the dishwater if he could then rush around the house blessing everything :grr:
