Diva Maisie is a biter and she is over 2 years old. Mostly very gentle bites but sometimes a bit harder! As has been suggested I say a very firm 'no'.
Thank you all. He is pretty mischievous
Bubbies, he's lovely - huge paws! I'm rather partial to the long ear tips, and he's got some to write about!
Never had a problem with mine... ;)

Seriously though.. Play time aside, Storvenn somtimes bites when he is trying to tell me something which is usually along the lines of "dont touch my stomach!, Ive pulled away from you three times now.. is the message not getting through???".
He doesnt bite too hard, enough to leave a big dent in my hand, but not enough to puncture skin.
I let out an "OW!" and then pretend to sulk. Wont smooth, and ignore him for a bit.
Seems to have worked over the last year but in truth.. taking the grooming aside, he only really 'nips' when we are playing rough and he is in "Imma gonna getcha!" mode. :)
So in summary, playtime? Well..we play rough. Grooming time? well.. its normally ok but sometimes I have to say ow and throw a sulk. Its getting better though.
One of mine (Popcorn) like to bite every now and then as well. Always goes for my feet and toes. OUCH. That's what I tell him..... Sometimes he stops, sometimes he won't. If he won't then I turn him onto his back, hold him down and if he's really over the top then I even pinch his tummy a bit. Normally works and shows him who the boss is.

One of my girls will hold my hand in her mouth and hold hard if she has had enough grooming and if I don't get the hint she will rabbit kick, but then she is an ultra active tortie.
Male cats can be a problem as they can get, how can I put this 'confused' and love bit your chin, if they get the chance!
I'd go along the route of agonized screaming and giving your boy the mega cold shoulder. He is a handsome boy tho
