My dear little Rasputin (currently known as shaitan) appears to have found something new to amuse himself; namely splashing the majority of the water out of his water bowl... He even manages to get it in his dry food! Does anyone else find this happen / have any tips for avoiding it just going EVERYWHERE?
We've given up trying to stop Jimmy doing it, his water dishes are placed inside a small litter tray so the water collects in that as he was starting to make the laminate floor warp :pissed:
Argh! I may try moving his water bowl away from the food but the litter tray sounds like a good idea especially as his feeding area is on (brand new) carpet...
Is he doing it for fun or is it because of the way he drinks? The tray tip is a good one...we might use that too!
Hee hee I have 3 coonies and they all do this, and in the sink / bath in fact anything with water in.
The litter tray is a good idea, although it wouldnt work for my Fred and he lies down to drink with his paws either side of the bowl - most bizare and havent seen another cat drink like it!
I have just got used to it, and actually quite enjoy watching them paddle.
We have a CatIt fountain with the mat which locks it in place so it doesnt move. I have been lucky in that only Roxy plays with the water in the bowl. They both love watching the bubbles when the dome has just been filled.
However there is one slave on the forum who has one that hugs the fountain.....:LOL:.....welly loves his fountain!!
I was going to get a water a fountain but I don't like the idea of soggy cat all the time lol I know he'd have his paws in it all the time and most probably try and sit in it like he has done with his water dish before! He sticks his whole head in his bowl when you give him fresh water, gets a bit too excited, snorts it up his nose then sits and sneezes out water :rofl:
We have to keep the bathroom shut as he loves it in there and climbs everything and at the same time knocking down everything in the bathroom!! He jumps into the sink and with it being one of the hovering sinks I was quite worried that 7kg of cat taking flying leaps at it on a daily basis was gunna pull it down :suprised:
Mufasa digs around his water bowl before drinking and sometimes mis-digs (is that a word lol!) and digs into the water. He doesn't actually play with the water although he is still quite messy just from all the digging! I have one of those water dispenser things from Zooplus and this seems to work quite well because it is quite heavy and he can't tip it up.

@Charlibob I'm praying our sink withstands him as his litter tray is in the toilet! Will definitely give the litter tray idea a shot though, I don't mind him splishing and splashing as long as can limit the chaos :D
Ditto (note to purchasers, the mat is an option) but only Dicky does it. He likes to put his paw down the hole and pull water up all over the place :)Quote:
