    hi ya
my doggie sleep upstairs with us also and because i have a young baby i wont allow the cats to sleep upstairs so i keep the living room door closed so she can free roam downstairs with litter tray and beds etc, i think using your idea would be just creating more work for yourself if the kitten were to get used to that long term in my own opinion that is, the dogs initially will be excited and react differently to what you expect no matter how well trained they are (ours is ex police dog) and boy it was some work gettin him to listen when we brought meekka in lol..took around 1-2 days for them to be comfortable with eachother so for easy life long term and first few days my suggestion would be to let kitter have a room where you will keep the litter tray and close the door and if its bathroom keep toilet seat down lol, if dogs cannot gain acces to their water bring that out of the room to where they can get it, one peice of advice which stuck with me was you can control a dog but never a cat then i say after day 3 they will all be able to sleep in the same room depending that all goes well i reckon, dont be suprised if your dogs mouthe the cat my dog often carrys meeka around in his mouth very gentely its funny to watch cos he is massive lol, x

but another thing is i only have 1 dog and dogs are pack animals so could take longer for them both to adjust x
