Am I just lucky or are all MC's like this?

My little huni Leo is a total lover. He is so amazingly affectionate. You pick him up for a cuddle and he just flops in your arms. He loves any way you hold him but perfers being held like a baby. He loves to touch your face with his paws and put his face against yours. He loves having lots of kisses all over his face. He doesn't wriggle or try to get away.

My other two cats are affectionate but nothing like him, even as kittens.

Leo is also always 'trilling'. It's so cute. It's the first thing I hear in the morning when he is playing with his older brother.

Also, I swear to you Leo smells like chocolate!!! His body odour or kitten smell (I guess) smells like cocoa/chocolate. It's beautiful. Haha that sounds weird hey but I swear thats what his smell reminds me of.

Does anyone else have a totally affectionate kitty/cat? Is this normal across the MC breed?

P.S. I was lucky enough to witness Leo taking a big wee on my beanbag today. Not sure if the feeling of the beans under his feet confused him. Needless to say the beanbag is going in the bin. Leo also got wee all over him so today he had his first bath. He didn't care he was getting wet at all. Silly piddle pot!!!

This is pretty normal for a Coony :) That's why we all love them so much!

Sweet thing! MCs are known for being playful and affectionate but they do vary. I have the three and they couldn't be more different in how they express themselves and how clingy they are. But they are all wonderful and everyone who visits comments on how they are the "best" cats they've ever met. :P

I feel so lucky to have Leo. It's a lucky dip when you buy from a breeder I guess in terms of personalities of the kittens, etc. Especially when you pick a kitten from a photo and don't have the luxury of being able to spend time with the kitten before you pick it up.

I remember the first MC I ever saw (which is when I fell in love with the breed) actually touched me on the face after I gave him a tickle on his neck. It was the sweetest thing ever. I'm so glad I've got me a baby who loves to show his affection like that.

Haha I haven't had him for even a week yet and I'm already picking out the colour for my next MC!!!

I find it neither necessary to be (a) a lady or (b) old to be a crazy old cat lady. However, the crazy part is self-fulfilling.

I say go for it 26 whats that,I waited until late forties to get crazy cat lady status & having peaked at six wish I had started a lot earlier as now feel we are on the downward trend because of our ages....! As Peter says they all have different traits & ways of showing affection but they are all lovely,the one of mine who is the most affectionate though is the one that I wouldn't have chosen for myself,although they are all pets formost I do like to show & he was the pick of the litter so ended up with a brown tabby,two things I always said I didn't want, never a brown tabby & certainly not a boy without white,no way,how wrong can you be & he has always been the biggest luv bug of the lot,purrs & snuggles all day long if you let him,he is good though because if he goes to jump up onto you & one of the others is having cuddle time he straight away goes off but he then lays on the cat tree in such a way that he is aware when the other one moves,he then has a yawn & a stretch comes down & walks past then he looks as if to say oh,empty lap,didn't know that well I had better just pop up & keep mum company,purr purr,kiss kiss,headbut pad pad,cuddle cuddle,blow on foot,would never want to be without them,love them all to bits.
When did you say the next one is joining the family & what colour...? I really need to have a smoke to help complete my colour spectrum...x

Not all of them... Roxy doesn't like to be held or snuggled. Once in a while she will sit on your lap but only on her terms. She will let you pick her up no problem but she will "squeak" in protest about it. I wish she liked to cuddle more because she is so soft and fluffy she'd be great to snuggle with!

Oh as far as being a crazy cat lady... At 26 I started with one cat Sneakers our senior kitty...then we got Roxy and when we were waiting for her to be old enough to come home from the breeder I found a feral kitten (Church) who happened to be just a few weeks older than Roxy so they grew up together. Then when Roxy and Church were about a year old I found a litter of seven three week old feral kittens in my backyard. So I had a grand total of 10! I found homes for 3 of the litter eventually...

Buddy can be cuddly and lovable when he wants to he, loves getting his face right into mine. Unfortunately this is normally at silly o'clock in the morning. He does like laying in my arms like a baby having a belly rub but unfortunately he is a bit big for this to me comfy for either of us now :(

With my two Roxy is the snuggler and Hector likes to curl up by you on the sofa when the mood takes him! Both of them will let you pick them up for a cuddle and will churp to you and expect you to churp back........bless its so sweet when Roxy does it to Freddie!!!

Haha next one will be joining when I buy a house. Landlords aren't keen on cats. Mine doesn't know about my 3rd. Seems I forgot to tell them... Oops!!! :)
Colour-wise, I'm with you. A black smoke! I like the ones with the black faces and really light ruffs. So cute.

I'm very lucky with my non-MC's too. Both cats love to lay next to you but will also claim the lap whenever they can.

Can I just say again how precious Leo is. 2 secs ago he jumped up next to me with a big (special kitty milk) milk moustache. Purring his little head off he was! Happy bellies in this house!!!

Yeah my non Maine Coons are all over me LOL, but Roxy just isn't especially into the snuggling...

Our last kitty Storm was half MC. He was very demanding of our attention. If hubby and I were sitting close on the sofa, Storm would meow at us until we made space for him to sit between us. Storm didn't want to pick just one of us to lean on. He was very lovable and had to be in the same room with us all the time. He did not like to be held. He only wanted to lay or lean on us and not be held. He did sleep in bed with us. Our new 4 month old kitty Whiskey is lovable too. He sleeps on our pillows at night. Whiskey will start on my pillow then move to my husband's pillow and wind up in the middle of the bed between us the rest of the night. Whiskey also has to be in the same room with us. He loves to nuzzle our faces and knead our heads. The first few days we had him he would knead our heads while we were trying to sleep at night. His little needle nails hurt. To think most people spend a lot of money for scalp massages with acupuncture thrown in.

Haha that's so cute. You could send Whiskey out to work to earn his keep. Massages and acupuncture. Could also clone him, sell his clones and make some money from a kitty with those talents :)

I will clone Leo and sell his clones as professional eaters, mess makers and singers. That boy wolfs down his food, enjoys moving everything everywhere (because apparently a clean house isn't fun for a kitten) and is as vocal as anything.

But I still love him!!! He is perfect!!!

I do have to say that I found with my girls that they do not want the cuddles to begin with,I always think of them as being the more independant & busy nature of the two sexes but in her later years you couldn't have wished for a more loving snuggle bug than China RIP,Pansy P will come a lay beside you on the chair but doesn't want a lap,the only time she comes in close for snuggles at the moment is when she joins you in bed but has only done that on a regular basis since we have lost China but I am hoping settee cuddles are getting closer,if you stand with her & cradle her like a baby she purrs & goes into raptures,sit down with her & its oopps got things to get on with....

Awwww I am in love!!! This may be a silly qsn but is their colouring like that when they are kittens or does their coat lighten as they grow?

I've got a cuddle pot like that!!! Aren't they the best. My Leo flops like a ragdoll as soon as you pick him up.

Well, he was rather dark when we first got him. The first pic was taken on his first day with us.
For a couple of weeks he seemed to get lighter (except for the face), like in the second pic.
But as his fur developed his back and flanks grew darker again while his ruff and belly fur stayed silver. The third pic was taken day before yesterday.

(I think the pics are attached in the wrong order though... so you'll have to look from right to left, lol.)

Nice, my two just 'play' with them till they are dead then leave the bodies for me! Ah well at least it cuts down on the runny bums!!

Storm is a snugbear but it has to be when he wants it, he has far more important things to do sometimes than waste time on his very devoted slaves! But when he wants to be he is utterly adorable, purring and chirruping for attention, and rolling around on you to make sure you are paying lots of attention to him!
Benji, because he is on Interferon, has been much more clingy these past few days. He doesn't come to me, but if I pick him up or even just stroke him he starts to purr, whereas usually he only purrs in a really relaxed state. My poor baby :(

My Jethro is a bit like your Roxy, NekoChan. only when he is in the mood, he jumps up starts to purr like a motorbike then licks my hand and bites it ranging from a nibble to a hard bite, he holds the bite for up to a minute, then licks me and rolls onto his back and just flops.

My Buddy Boy is ALL about the cuddle time!!! He is definately mommy's boy but he is also very affectionate with strangers and everyone that comes here always comments on what an awesome cat he is. He will chase me down stand at my feet and stand on his hind legs with his front paws on my thighs and literally blocks me from walking any further and will not let me do anything without saying hello to him. If I dont say hello and give him a pet right away he will climb up me as if to say "no, your going to say hello now!!!" He really is my shadow and there is not a night that goes by where he doesnt spend it sleeping on mommy's lap. He really likes getting up on my shoulders even though he does not fit up there....lol. And when he is up on my shoulder he literally gives hugs, he lays his head on my head and wraps his front paws around my neck. I love him so much I cannot imagine my life without him. My fiancee gets jealous...lol....and says the cat gets more attention than him....and I think he is right:LOL:
