Kittens need lots of food to grow up big and strong, they should be feed as much as they'll eat, 3 or more times a day.
I can't say what is norm for a 10wk MC babe as my breeders would never let them go that young but my new babe who is now 14 weeks gets through two pouches a day with kitty biscuits as well & seems pretty happy, she was fed over four meals but has pulled it back to three herself, although I haven't weighed her yet everyone who comes round including her breeder reckons she has grown so must be giving her enough. Is your boy on a kitten worming program ? They do seem to eat a huge amount at this stage though, they have a lot of growing to do in these first months I always give mine extra vitamins as well...x
Hi thanks for the replies, he is eating about 3-4 packets plus dry food a day. But always looking for more :) yeah he is on a worming programme.
My baby boy is 17 wks and he seems as though he cannot get enough food. I give him 1/2 can of wet in the morning and a 1/2 can at night and he has his dry
food all the time. And he still is begging for more. Should I give him supplements such as the nutra cal paste?
Candes do u feed you mcs raw feedings? Is that something i should do?
When Tia was 4 months I gave her 2 pouches a day+dry food was always in the bowls(Applaws & whiskas kitten),she feeds all day & never squeeks for food.
I've always given Rasputin pretty much as much as he'll eat and that's worked so far however I do keep a close eye on his waistline!
RE: raw food, he gets some raw meat (steak normally) about once a fortnight as it's good for his teeth but otherwise he always has royal canin down and wet food put down in the am and pm.
HI
Maine Coons are naturally a grazing breed so require dry food down all the time (a quality complete dry food diet such as royal canin, james wellbeloved etc). Both these brands contain taurine and lysine and additional supplements won't be required. Most coonies regulate their intake of food but exercise is essential. Maine coons also require a lower level of protein than most other breeds. Another good wet food is to boil a pan of water and put diced casserole beef in and boil for a max 5 mins then drain it off. This allows them to still tear and chew the beef, you can do the same with heart and tongue or you can feed quality beef mince raw or very lightly boiled...A lot of packets of 'wet food' are actually mainly 'liquid' in content, applaws is a good wet food as the meat content is high as are some others...
