Being out all day yesterday meant that Winston did not get his main meal till around 6pm.
I feel pretty guilty but the day was so beautiful , we ended up staying out longer then we meant to.
It got me thinking about how great it would be when we could stop feeding a third meal during the day.
When is the correct age to start feeding twice daily?
Why should you feed only twice a day at all???
The cat eats around 10 times a day in the wild, the cat is a small-eater it eats several small meals around the clock.
I have always had my cats on free access, they have always access to food.
I had it like this since i started out with the CRX at 1995, and i think all i know have free access for their cats. Is it common in UK to restrain the access to food???
Simba gets fed all day I don't have set meal times. He has dry food left down all day but I do weigh what I put out in the morning to give me some idea of how much he is eating. He has wet food now and again for a treat but his breeder has told me that she would start weaning him of this now. He seems to prefer the dry food to the wet anyway. I am also teaching him to come to his name at the moment so he is having quite a few Whiskers temptations:LOL:.
Same here I read they were grazers so we have always kept biscuits down, and feed wet twice a day, no set times on that either, I feed when the white cat asks for it, usually when I get up, and when I get home from work.

My Mum's outdoor cat at home is a "grazer" and we can leave dried food in it's dish for the whole day, but our bold Winston is no grazer. He wolfs his food down and there is no way there will be food left on the plate after 5 mins of being left down.:LOL:
This will probably change as he gets older. At Winston's age he is growing fast and will have quite an appetite. Still, we have dry down at all times, and have never had an issue with the male kittens eating everything in sight.Quote:
