I've recently purchased two of these litter trays....they work excellent compare to anything else I've tried... Here is the link
Cat litter box by Biddy Cat Co.
We had the same problem as our two kept peeing over the edge of the open tray and we wanted a large covered one. Ours now use the jumbo covered tray from Zooplus - and it's fab! It's a lot bigger than it looks in the picture but easily allows them both enough room to do their business with no more spills :-)

LOL... looks like we have yet another Monty on the forum! That makes four!:rofl::rofl:
Anyway, welcome on board!
We use the same trays as Rachel. They are indeed massive ... when the first one was delivered and we took it out of the box we were like: OMG, look at the size of that thing!
But they're useful trays and I can recommend them. Do take care to use enough litter - this will prevent the pees and poos sticking to the bottom of the tray. We use an entire 15 kilo bag for each tray.
Again, nice to have you on here... and I'd love to know what your Monty looks like.:winkwink:
Hi! I am keeper of the other Monty! Welcome to Monty no 4 - and may I say an excellent choice of name. Is he by any chance a black smoke, like mine and Antonia's? Dying to see some pictures when you get a chance.
Re. trays, excellent advice already given. I have 4 trays in my cellar so I don't bother to have covers on them, especially now the lads are so big. One of the trays is a shallow storage box from the hardware shop - about 2 feet long.
Yes we changed to the Jumbo one that Rachel has a couple of weeks ago. I can safely confirm that it is enormous and there is loads of room in there. It was such a relief as Mufasa kept flicking bits out of his old tray (even through the door) and I would see him trying to dig up the mat 'outside' the tray to cover his mess :) I would like to add that I purchased an extra large poop scoop also from ZooPlus which has been very good and saved many trips backwards and forwards to the loo as I can get most of it on there at one go!
We made ours and its fab.We bought an extra large guinea pig cage, with deep plastic tray and a large cage on the top with a lift up lid in the centre. We cut strips of persex the height of the cage and bent corners with heat gun and glued them in using hot glue sticks, then removed the cage door at the front and Voila ... !! a massive 100 cm enclosed tray, which we can clean by opening the large top 'door' and remove the whole cage for washing. Ok !! bit of fiddling about but it works amazingly well.
Crikey, you've gone to some trouble there! Would love to see pics... of the super-duper tray and of course your lovelies (but not whilst they are using it, I hasten to add! :)
I use two hooded litter trays for Theo, one downstairs & one upstairs for when he gets caught short . I bought a 'multi-loo' for downstairs which is massive & was only £30 from Pets at Home, with the second one being an an average size hooded tray. I would post a link to them but unfortunately cannot find the pictures on Google. Theo is two years old but still fits into the smaller one without much trouble but I would definitely recommend buying the 'multi-loo' as they are massive therefore plenty of room for a fully grown Maine-Coon
We've got 2 trays similar to Rachel-C's ... it appears to be the same base, but we don't have the enclosed house on top! We had the same problem in that 'bits' were being chucked over the edge, but these work really well, no spills now!
I managed to get quite a large litter tray from Aldi the other week, it's a covered in one and Kenny seems to fit in it OK at the moment, although I guess he still has some growing to do yet. He didn't like the flap door so promptly got that off but he sits in it with his head poking out and then goes back in it to do the covering up bit.
Mine use the largest standard litter tray because they just about fit in those. I wouldn't use a covered one as they tend to pose rather upright when they go! However, I did have the problem with them digging the litter out of the trays, so I have put each tray into an enormous cardboard box, cut down to half height to give them some privacy with a lower cut in the front as a kind of entrance. Not particularly stylish but cheap and very functional. They seem happy and I can tip the clean spilt litter back into the tray when I clean it out.
I got Elvis & Coco the largest plastic storage bin I could find at the friendly local shopping labyrinth.
It was <US$20 and holds an entire 40 lb bag of litter
Elvis had troubles with a smaller box.
It's in the basement so they don't need a covered one.
I put the lid underneath to help capture the wayward litter bits.
