It Breaks Our Hearts...

Having read a previous post where no-one could home one poor little Mainecoon I realise this is even more unlikely but anyway...

We've had our Mainecoon boys (Pedigree) for 19 months and we need a loving home that they can go to, of course for free to the right home/owner.
Allow me to explain...
We had only had our beautiful Mainecoon neutered boys, Bailey and Jasper (Brothers) for 14 months when our Baby was born (Our 1st and only), he only sleeps 2 hours at a time and quickly we realised the 'boys' were being neglected. Two weeks ago we had to have them shaved as Jasper had become incredibly knotty, Bailey only had a couple of knots but as us owners tend to do we imagined them to be human and thought they might not like it if they looked different to each other so had them both shaved the same. They are indoor only cats because of where we live but even this is already proving to be problematic with needing windows and doors open from time to time etc. We've spent the last four months pretending we're coping and that there isn't a problem but it just isn't fair on our Cats. We used to play with them so much and groom them (attempt to as it would be more play time than groom time) probably every other night. The only thing more cruel and unfair than them staying with us would be for them to be separated, they are each others shadow. We're in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England but obviously we are willing to travel with-in reason in order to see there potential new home/owners. Thank you, they are brilliant little kitties, Bailey's the lap cat and Jasper prefers to sit nxt to you. Going to miss them so much. Thanks again. I should have put in the original post that all toys, litter box, bowls etc and a 6' 6" scratch post will be included if the owner wants them.

So sorry for you & admire you for putting the cats feelings first,I am sure they will soon find a good home & hopefully the new mum/dad will let you know how they get on,will keep watching to see what happens...x

You know me too well. Have offered to, if allowed split them with bethy_boo or take in both on condition they remain Grahams cats and he can have them back if ever he wants them. Tired but waiting for reply. I optioned a kitten today but have rung breeder who immediately said "you've see that thread?". Fingers, toes and eyes crossed now xxx

I tried not to respond to this too...........it's a little too close to home. So far I've been lucky in a similar circs, two young MC's then a surprise pregnancy and then a baby who is known as sleep dodger and at six months still does not sleep through the night!

My heart goes out to you but I like catslaves fostering idea, I hope everything works out for you.

My youngest (child) was like that Helen, the first night he slept through I didn't sleep a wink as I was expecting him to wake up any minute. 16 years later I'm lucky if he is up by 5pm. Its good for kids to get used to pets early, they never get the chance to develop a fear of them. All 3 of mine learnt to walk holding onto the dog.

My first real memory of pet related bonding with my offspring was just about getting home & remembering I had gone up town with a pram & two dogs,flying back up there they were sitting very patiently guarding babe,I always think it is good for children to grow up & appreciate animals,they used to be my wind down therapy on the bad days when babe was not playing game & she grew up appreciating that in life there are others that have to come before her,I have to say I don't know what I would have done many times without my four legged companions,canine & feline, so can't imagine the heartbreak it must cause to have to give that up.
Any update yet on how the new home search is going {or gone}.....x

Hi everyone, sorry for not keeping an eye on the thread. I was expecting just to hear through PM (Dont know why it didn't occur to me to check the thread, stupid) I have a telephone number for 'Catslave' but I must say (Although utimately I haven't any control over it) but they must stay together, they sleep, eat, play and lay together always at the same time and if one was shut in a room without the other by mistake they cry and cry but you can shut them in the room together and then they don't mind (That was before I cut cat faced holes in all the down stairs doors!) But the first to contact me was 'Hayheadsbird' so I feel I must exlore this avenue first. She is out tonight so I will be ringing her tomorrow, however the conversation goes I will be sure to keep you updated. Thank you all for your understanding and kind words. Graham.

Sorry Graham, I really hope things work out for you, but I have to withdraw my offer to take them both as, not having heard back from you I have now agreed to take on a 3 year old girl from a local breeder who is retiring.

Hi, don't worry, that's fine. I did say I would be speaking to Hayheadsbird first, whome I have not long come off the phone from and will be the Boys new forever home. At the moment I actually feel more excited than sad, this is for the Boys (Going outside, grooming and playtime etc) and the new family because the boys (once adjusted) are going to make the bestest friends/children that any family could wish for! We were on the phone for 1 hour and 20 mins, we've sorted the logistics so now we've just got to wait til the 25th/26th. The Boys are going to get sooo spoilt between now and then. Thank you all once again for your feedback and kind words. p.s wish I could fastforward 6months to see them settled in with their new surroundings and family, they are just going to love the freedom. I'm really pleased there is a happy ending. And there are never too many photos.

Looks as if there has been lots of happy outcomes from this sad dilemma,Graham now happy because his babes have got a new good home,Jasper & Bailey because they have got an exciting time ahead in their new home,hayheadsbird the excitement & pleasure from two new furries in the house & catslave who has also now got a companion joining her & Buddy,as she says so pleased there is a happy ending...x

Bailey and Jasper started the journey today, they are currently relaxing after a long car drive today and tomorrow take to the high sea before arriving in their new home! Both boys are truly stunning and so calm and sweet, Bailey managed to wiggle his way half out of the cat box in the car to cuddle up on my daughters lap on the way north. :LOL: As soon as they get settled I'll get some pics posted of them :nod:
