I am trying hard to find the ideal dry cat food for my coonies. I tried RC, but I´ve lost my trust in this brand. They are salty and suspiciously tasty and they contains too much grain. I tried Acana, my cats didn´t like it at all. Is anybody familiar with Golden Eagle or Power of Nature food?

Must admit I do use RC Maine Coon myself, Hank loves it and I like to see him having a good 'crunch' on the large size kibbles..
Applaws (kitten) went down like a storm when I bought a small pack to try. Once I get rid of the Orijen - which the cats will eat, but not gulp down like kids with ice cream - I will get back to Applaws, but the adult one...
We use a mix of Orijen (the meat one) and Taste of the Wild for our 3. They seem to like Taste of the Wild better as it's a bit more crunchy than Orijen. RC didn't suit Shadow as she seems to have a bit of a sensitive tummy - she seems fine on this combination. I wanted to get them on to a grain-free one, which both of these are. They're also partial to a bit of Muller rice pudding....:LOL:....only as a very rare treat of course!
My boys do like their Acana, the fishy one (Pacifica?). We don't feed them dry very often, it's only if my OH can't come home during lunch to feed them really. They do go absolutely wild for the Hills VetEssentials kitten, as we got a small bag as a freebee from our vets. But that's given to them more as a treat than a daily food :)
I use Sanabelle Grande its large kibble so great for the coonies but my Devon rex also eats it no problem, available from zooplus also tried the Happy Cat dental which is large kibble also.
Tried RC once OMG pooey pants.
My cats eat Bosch Sanabelle, and now we want to try Porta 21
I have tried Porta 21 dry and wet food both are excellent especially the wet food, I only changed to get a bigger biscuit.Quote:

One of mine pigs his dry allowance so I make him work for it either by scattering it far & wide or putting it in the play ball,no pigging in no puke throwback.....!
Orijen is my favorite... Instinct is another one I really like. Right now I am trying out the new Instinct limited ingredient turkey formula because one of my cats has really bad food allergies. If it wasn't for the allergies I'd be using Orijen. I also use the Instinct canned rabbit food as it's one of the few he can eat.
I'm starting to feel culturally deprived over here in the colonies... :rofl:
I'd love to try a couple of these brands but apparently I'd have to fly over the pond to shop... :winkwink:

Roxy is doing really well on Orijen (Chicken) which I started giving her after the RC kitten bag was gone. Her coat has become really shiny, but it's probably fair to say that she seemed more enthusiatic about the taste of the RC, as some others here have commented. Her teeth are really clean though and no bad breath or smelly poo, so we're happy. We also give her applaws wet canned food and occasionally raw chicken and fish, which she adores...although not as much as turkey as we recently discovered :)
I try & mix my dry food for Tia,I get Applaws,James Wellbeloved & RC.At the moment she is on Purina One Natural Balance (ocean fish) she loves it.Was quite surprised when I opened the bag,the kibbles are big & triangular.
I prefer to change dry food,is it a good idea or should I keep with the same make!!!
I give our 9month old boy the RC Maine Coon 31. He loves the stuff and chews each bit. He had stinky mushy poo until he was 6 months. The vet suggested the RC MC 31. This firmed up his poo and the stink is normal. Now if I can just convince Royal Canin to make a bigger bag.
How big do you want? RC do 10kg bags, available from Amazon and Zooplus I believe.
I'd love to have a 16-10lb bag. The biggest bag I can find is 6lb bag. I buy 2 at a time now. Having the bigger bag usually is cheaper then buying 2 at a time. So I'm interested in the savings. I already have a large sealed container to keep a larger bag in.Quote:

Just decided I needed to order some more, and just ordered a 10kg bag for £37.99 from Pet Supermarket - £10 cheaper than I had been paying :)
I would take Royal Canin, Eagle Pack, and Iams Healthy Naturals off the list. All of these have corn or by products or both.
The list that remains then is a list of good stuff. I personally like grain free options best. They are more meat, less carbs, great for cats which are carnivores. So in that light, EVO, Solid Gold, and Fromm all have grain free options. But I'd feel comfortable feeding the others also. I think California Naturals has a new grain free option too..
I have Roark on Orijen which he eats but doesn't gulp down. He loved his RC MC Kitten but it is not good for him... Wish they would make the Orijen more tasty!
Me too Deshni, I have the same problem with Orijen, and Arcana for that matter. Casco is on Hills Natures Best now and eating loads more. The kibble isn't as big as sanabelle grande but it's far bigger than most of the other brands.
Golden Eagle Sensitive, Power of Nature Natural Cat, Applaws and Feline Caviar are all grain free and do not contain unhealthy additives but my princess loves Golden Eagle Sensitive best. I use it and add some of the others with it. And my princess is happy.
