Daughter took pup into the house & let them get on with it,they stayed in the room & when they had to leave put pup into it's bed but except for nights when they both had their own sleeping departments within a few days feline & canine were the best of friends. I have never worried either about having visiting canines in amoungst my lot, cats can get out of the way but have always found the noseyness of the MC soon outweighs any worrying they might do.
Are we soon going to be seeing a picture added to the "any other furry"file...?

Coming back to answer your question, yes - today we've added one more to our family. A 10 week old pup that had been left in a bin :-( The person who found her and the rest of the litter wasn't in any position to look after them so we volunteered. She's been with us now a couple of hours and seems to be settling in quite well.
Hank is making me very proud of him and his tolerance and patience as he's been the only pet in the family he's been top cat around the house so I was concerned obviously how he'll react when there's another animal in his territory but he so far is being so placid and welcoming almost to the other animal it's great. Just shows Maine Coons have to be one of the finest family additions you can hope for. It goes without saying he's getting a lot of attention and fusses, including a crab stick or two :)
Good boy Hank....x
MC are very social animals, the first time I saw this "approach" I thought if the chow attacks the kitten will be killed. In the beginning the MC is very curious but will never hurt the other pets.

Well done Hank for being such a nice boy to the new baby.
What kind of puppy is it? We will need to see pictures soon.......
Well I have a different situation. I brought in a MC kitten into our home a few couple days ago. We have a 4 month old puppy and 2 cats already. We just let her loose and they got along :)
