I check all 12 paws carefully and had a good feel around 6 ears. Will check the ears again.

No, the sheets were clean, just not made, before I left in the morning, but thanks for thinking of me.
I have once again checked them and checked what's in the litter tray while cleaning it out. All negative. Sigh.

Nothing since. The boys are all happy and healthy so far. Fingers crossed!
Very odd.

I very often have found spots of fresh blood out in the cats pen & gone straight into panic mode to then never find out who or where they come from,I think more often than not it is a pulled claw but by the time you get round to looking for it they have cleaned it up so well you just can't see it & unless it is really sore still however much prodding & poking about you do you can never get a reaction, very stoical are our cats,in fact when I took Shimba for his booster I just said to the boss that I had noticed him limping a bit when I went to put him in his basket so the boss got hold of his foot & started inspecting digits & when he got to the last one he had pulled a nail right off & the bare quick was exposed,it was already infected so had been done a little while but that slight limp was the very first sign,he was a very good boy standing with a hind foot in a margarine tub for saline bathing though but it did have to be on the kitchen window sill so he could watch the birds at the same time,so Peter be prepared....!

I checked all nails and ears - nothing at the time. My old cats used to have pulled nails occasionally. Given the almost (large) single-spot nature of this I am suspecting a play fight ear wound that healed and got cleaned up - no scabs or anything.
