I had this with Freyja for a few weeks shortly after she arrived and Jackie's trick worked a treat. Only needed to do it for a couple of days and she was all sorted. I've now got moist eye wipes and give both girls a quick rub every day, it stops it building into a little crust. Since we've been using them, we've had no problems with either cats eyes.

Yes Larry is prone to a runny left eye, always has been, but as he's solid black it doesn't show up much and I can't really tell if it is rusty or clear. It's worse if he's been out in the garden for a while - cold wind I suppose making his eyes water a bit. I just give it a wipe with a wet tissue or cotton wool ball, and it doesn't seem to bother him at all.

Well with Tilly our Mackerel Tabby we have to clean her eyes every day, Raggles the Black smoke every other week and Pomeroy the Blue / White not once in 7 months.
Raggles was worse when he was teething and Tilly seems to be getting worse now she is starting to get her BIG teeth. With ours we seem not to get the fluid, just the crusty stuff under the eyes. Tilly is defo the worst but it does not seem to bother her.

With Schrödinger's being a red-silver you can really notice the build up so we have to clear his eyes everyday, though its normally very dry and brushes straight off with a quick flick of the finger . Initially he would recoil from going near his eyes, etc. but he's quickly got used to it and doesn't seem bothered in the slightest now.

Speaking of eyes, I did notice his left eye was squinting a bit (at first I thought he'd picked up a cockney wink from Bargain Hunt) but upon closer inspection I found what looked like a lock of hair (not lots but a couple woven together) on his eyeball the poor bugger, a dampened paper towel and some quick finger work sorted it in the end, cant imagine how it would of felt to have that in my eye for a week uurgh. If only kitties could speak...
