I have a bit of a fancy for a black smoke baby (not that hubby agrees!) and I ahven't seen that many about. Are they difficult to come buy and will I pay more as a result? Any ideas?

As far as I know, although they look striking, black smokes are no more uncommon than any other color. I own a black smoke, his dad is black smoke, his litter brother is black smoke, a number of his half sisters and half brothers are black smokes... they're not that rare.
your not the only one :rofl:keep looking at pic , anna still in cage they are 5mths but cant get done till she ok the one i have seen and want is a boy
so not going their cant take any risk of kittens
OH just a thought the price of her vet bill <not fin yet> I could have had 2 new kits and still had change:shy:
Hi yes as far as I know it's the solid blacks which are rare, not the black smokes. But I'm fairly new to the breed.
They aren't that rare really - I have seen quite a few over the last months, including my gorgeous Storm!
All you need is at least one silver/smoke parent and for the other parent to carry solid or be solid as smoke is the solid version of silver.
So, if you had a silver classic tabby and another silver classic tabby and they both carried solid you would get black smokes.
He is lovely. I would never have realised that those markings were black smoke - I assumed that black smokes were shades of black, didn't expect any white. Is he a 'typical' black smoke (if such a thing in the world of MC's exists!)?
