Can't help you out any, but if kitty would get out I can alleviate your worries. I had a rail out behind my house growing up. No kitties on my street were ever harmed. And there was a ton of them outside all the time! If was actually quite hysterical to watch them when a train would come. We are talking running like speed lightning for the house. Every inch of their fur on end.

Unfortunately the cats around here are not as lucky. :( Next door has 8 cats currently, in the past 3 years 4 of her cats have died on the railway, now all but 2 of her cats are house cats as she just doesn't feel safe about letting them out which makes me really not feel safe about letting them out as she is so cat savvy.

I have spoken to my dog walker about walking the cat too (if the cat was up for it) and she said she would love to so the cat may get some outside time.
