Maine Coons are all classed as semi long hairs but even if they look as if they are going to have the longer coat as a kitten doesn't mean a thing,my last two babes looked exactly the same coat length wise when I had them & now one is really furry with a long flowing coat & super ruff,his brother can't grow a ruff has a shorter haired top coat but does now boast flowing breeches & tail,as Peter says prime thing is making sure they come from a good breeder.....
Have a look at the Maine Coon Cat club kitten list that is split into areas but still do your homework...x

Very true Jackie, our babies from Diti have plush thick short coats.... which will grow in to long flowing coats...

Our babies from Mimi are like bum fluff in comparison

And from Corrigan long a flowing... all with the same daddy!! who has a thick plush long coat!!!
