Wow, Catslave, Buddy has a great menu there!

In our house, breakfast lunch and dinner tend to be the same food, but it varies every day.

Saturday they had chunks of beef heart and tongue, garnished with a bit of tinned sardine in tomato sauce.
Sunday they had a ground mix of beef and lamb meat, liver, lung, and kidney, topped off with a spoonful of tinned tuna.
Today they are having minced chicken (including bones), with a tiny mouse hidden in it (see below).
Defrosting for tomorrow is a poussin.

I got some pinks at the weekend, offered one each to the lads but they just sniffed and tossed them around.
So I cleaned them up and put them in with their minced raw chicken (pierced them a bit first ---ughhhhh!) and then they got eaten, no problem.
How does one become de-sensitised to these tiny dead creatures??? I think it's going to take some practice!

I also got some chicks but haven't tried them on these yet. I think Monty should be keen as he loves catching birds. He has twice caught a magpie but both times it got away. Yesterday he caught a pigeon and by the time we noticed the feathers everywhere, it was very dead. He didn't eat it, he just threw it around the garden, shamelessly showing off to his brother. I dread to think what it would be like if he was allowed to roam free.

I will have to be discreet about this whole prey business. OH is very squeamish and would be horrified to see it, and I don't blame him.
BTW, at my reptile shop, the pinks are 45p each, and the chicks (much bigger item) are 15p. Any idea why that is?

When I get more time tonight I will find you the link for getting them online very cheap. I buy quite large quantities because of the snakes.

Has anyone tried feeding crickets? Read on another forum that cats love them but they give me the creeps a bit

You've got snakes and crickets give you the creeps??????

My raw attempts have been rebuffed, I have put some chicken and steak into their bowls (diff days)...ignored, had a couple of accidents when cutting meat.....ignored.........but my real accident with grated cheese.....scoffed!

Pigeon was on the menu yesterday!
The unlucky bird managed to get into our small garden, and under the canopy, to Monty's sheer delight.
By the time we noticed it was far too late. I hoped he was getting his own dinner, but in the end he didn't want to eat it.

I asked myself why I took so many pictures of such a distasteful scene, but I just found myself enjoying the cats' enjoyment. Apologies to the squeamish!

eww it's like watching a car crash, you can't help yourself and not look!!!

Pigeons are the worst for feathers, as soon as they die they all seem to drop out!

I feel sorry for the pigeon, but it shouldn't have been doing a kamikaze act. Love the 5th pic where Monty sticks out his tongue, lol.

Yes I feel sorry for it too, but at least it would have been quick - Monty is a very efficient hunter. In fact he's the most 'wild' cat I've ever known. The breeder thought he'd do well at shows but he'd have hated it, he's far happier charging around the garden all day getting scruffy.
