For example at our second 'lets give TICA a chance' show, one judge couldn't make his mind up between my kitten and Dr H's kit, he asked his steward what one she prefered! It was funny how well the people who had helped organize the show did compared to the rest of us mortals! My friends cats got nowhere too, I suppose we all got lots of pionts etc. And as for our final, never again, TICA show at Taunton... it was a shambles, no vets, rubbish judging HOW CAN YOU TELL ANYTHING ABOUT A KITTEN BY SQUEEZING ITS MUZZLE? The judges obviously couldn't wait to leave, two of them had packed up their things by 2.30. I know the organizers had worked hard and, for some strange reason, thought trashy TICA were worth their effort, I have to disagree, if they held a show across the road I wouldn't cross the door!

One thing that really worries me about TICA is that you don't have to have a certificate of entireity, signed by your vet, placed with them, before you use your stud cat and register its kittens! One of the best cats I bred was a monorchid, so I could have registered him with them and used him as a stud and no one would have been any the wiser?!

    This is from their site...

To register a litter of kittens, the dam must be registered with TICA (or being registered at the same time as the litter). If the sire is not registered with TICA, then a copy of the sire’s certified pedigree must be provided with the registration application (unless it is already held on file by TICA). The sire can also be registered with TICA at the same time if required. Certificates of Entirety are not required for sires

GCCF might be expensive but on registering a litter they really do check that the mating probably resulted in the kittens as stated on your paperwork.

I think we will have to beg to differ on this, but I would never buy a TICA registered kitten or show with them again, this is just personal experience and shock that they don't check on the status of stud cats.

My poor Chaz (the monorchid) had to have his stomach opened up, the vet never found the hidden testicle and Chaz's nature changed completely after the op, if anyone has seen a victious Maine Coon they will know that they are a real threat to other cats.

I gave him to a local family, telling them everything, Chaz had to live alone, indoors and would probably only live a few years... and yet under TICA I could have bred from him!

Lol, seems you also have had problems with Tica, although I am a Tica registered Cattery I have only registered 2 litters with Tica at the request of new owners who wanted to show Tica, I found them slow to be honest, and I have shown 3 times UK Tica and enjoyed it... but that was in the very early days when they came to the UK.

I like Neocats, THEY have very strict rules, no 1 you have to pay for your prefix every year.
No 2 they insist on all certified pedigrees before they will register a litter, and the show was amazing and well run with one of the strictest vetting in processes I have ever been through.

NEO CATS is where I register all my kittens, however some of the colours they do not recognise Like the Bi- colour pointed and white British and so I WILL register these Tica. Until there are enough of them, like with the GCCF that NEOCAT will start to include the colour in their allowed breeds.

In one respect for Tica also they can be very sensible on some issues.. like the somali x Abyssinian, in all cases GCCF and NEOCAT the variants from this litter stay this way until they have been bred true to Abyssinian and or Somali for 3 generations..

Tica WILL if a long haired gene test is done and comes back that the long haired gene is not present in the variant kitten they will register it as a Abyssinian.

Swings and roundabouts... but I am sure there are many of us that have had problems..

What I disliked about the GCCF in principal is the way they take money but are not good at fighting your corner for you.
    FIFE and TICA will

Many years ago I made a mistake with a registration on my wonderful Frodo Baggins.

I put his father down as Waggytail Mccavity, a boy I still owned and was actually showing as a neuter. he had gained before Frodo was even a twinkle in anyones eye a PC.

The true father was Guargantua Molvolio the mother was the same.

I showed Frodo he got one CC and then a second and 2 red card days.... and even showed him with Waggy none the wiser, until the GCCF contacted me and informed me.

Now I knew who the father was and so did many breeders lol... I had all waggys daughters and Frodo was going to be bred to them lol

Long story short, I admitted my mistake as it was true Waggy was not the daddy...

But it cost me a fine of £250.00 and fees and the loss of 2 CC for a genuine mistake... which I admitted...

End of the day Frodo had not been used, and technically he was the same cat shown no matter who his daddy was, but boy did they want their pound of flesh, I was on the stewarding scheme at the time, and I was so angry..... BUT that is the GCCF.... take your money... and then bye bye..
