    Shwo results

Rasputin attended his first show today and it was a bit of a mixed bag. Unfortunately the judges determined that he’s not a blue silver but a silver (4 separate judges confirmed this) and so he had to be disqualified from the breed class. They were really nice about it but said only the breeder can change his registered colour so couldn't correct it at the show.

The good news is that the judges spoke to me and said they were impressed with him in terms of presentation, personality and looks and that they’d really recommend he gets registered in the correct colour as they think he’d do well and they also said they would have been happy to give him first place in the class.

I'm a bit gutted to be honest as (I'm sure everyone knows) it's not cheap sending them to a show and I had to pay the full cost of registering as well as the transfer cost initially. On the positive side at least they thought he had potential!

Do you all think I'm justified in expecting the breeder to pay the cost of amending his registration? I wasn't entirely happy paying everything to register him initially but decided to go ahead and not make a fuss because I didn't say I was planning to show him when I originally bought him but think it would be a bit unfair if I was expected to pay for (what essentially) wasn't my fault. I have emailed the breeder asking if she can sort it out but just thought would get some opinions as to what a fair solution would be...

PS Just noticed I made a lovely typo in the title of this... It's been a long day!
Anyway, picture of kitty at the show...Shwo results-snv38804.jpg

Congrats... I find it bizarre that you had to pay to register him in the first place that is the breeders responsibility unless you got him for nothing or very very cheap??

However as the breeder should have known what colour he was when she registered him then she I think should pay to change the colour of him too. She/he is the only one that can do this and given that you have lost all that money with the show I think she owes you..

How can anyone mix up a Blue silver with a black????

Well done on your results. It can be a nerve wracking experience! Don't be down hearted about the Open result. You wont get wrong coloured next time. I agree with Debbie. The breeder should have known what colour he was. Would you mind PM'ing me the prefix of his breeder?

What a shame about the colour mix up,all the preperation, excitment & nerves without the cost is bad enough but then to have that happen, hope you can get it sorted with no extra cost to you especially as the breeder should have done if first off anyway, wether you want to show or not I wouldn't buy from a "breeder"who didn't register her babes.
Good luck for the next show look forward to hearing about a lot more successful day & a special kiss for Rasputin, right behind his ear please....x

Yeah a bit of a shame but at least I know he has potential and thanks for the support everyone
I did check on GCCF and she didn't do anything wrong by not registering - she provided me with a 4 gen pedigree and a certificate of mating which is all you have to do under GCCF rules... I gather it's not common practice though!
@Debbie I paid £400 for him which I think is pretty much the going rate in the UK. He also has darkened up quite a lot since we first got him and his dad is a blue silver which I'm guessing is where the mix-up has come from. Bit gutting though especially as I did say when we came to register him that I'd've registered him as a silver. But then he's my first pedigree and first MC so I happily admit not having much strength in my conviction! I also understand that the difference between blue silver and silver can be quite minimal.
@Wendy I'd like to see what response I get back to my email before PMing a prefix if that's ok?
