    Stupid question about frequent diarrhea

Wondered if anyone had any advice for a potentially stupid question...

Freyja seems to frequently either have diarrhea (when I say frequent I would estimate it's once every couple of weeks, and it's not bad if you get my drift), and when she doesn't have diarrhea she has very soft stools. Aside from the fact that this means that it often sticks to her fur (not looking to cover how to deal with that issue as I know we've shared horror stories already!) I'm anxious in case she feels poorly with it.

In terms of symptoms, she is energetic, playful, affectionate; she's not sensitive and doesn't mind being cuddled and pulled about (unless dry shampoo's involved - back to the horror stories). So she's fine in herself, with or without diarrhea and soft stools.

Her diet is stable - when we brought her home from the breeders we left her on Whiskas Simply Adult as that's what she was used to, but we gradually moved her onto Applaws chicken range and Cat Deli chicken range, along with Go Cat Adult complete kibble. Around the time we moved her onto Applaws/Cat Deli (took a month), the stools started getting softer. She's been on the Applaws for two months and seems to really enjoy it.

The last two days she's had diarrhea, and it's unusual for to have it for two days on the trot, but she did eat a HUGE blue bottle and/ or spider in the garden Sunday. She had a diarrhea tablet yesterday but it didn't help much judging by today, so we held back food this morning and just gave her biscuits this evening, which she tucked into. If she's still got the runs tomorrow morning, she'll be off to the vets.

So, my stupid question is this: should I put her back on Whiskas? We moved to Applaws as it's got a higher meat content so assumed it might be a little more nutritious; Cat Deli is the same principle but enables us to have a few extra flavours to give her more variety, but I'm wondering if it's all just too rich - is it possible that the high-meat diet is the route cause of her digestion issues or could it be more serious? She didn't seem to have the same problem when on the Whiskas when we first got her. I've got no issue with Whiskas but just thought the higher meat content would be a more natural diet for a cat.

It goes without saying that if the diarrhea persists tomorrow I'll take her for a check up, but I just wondered if anyone has had similar issues and how they got round it - I hate the thought that she's uncomfortable and knowing how dignified cats can be it can't make her feel great when she sees me looming with the wet wipes after a having a quiet crap.
