Gabybe - Rafael's weight at almost 12 weeks was 1.9Kg (vet scale), he is now 13 weeks and is 2Kg (home scale)... I think weight varies from kitten to kitten, but in my opinion you kitty might be a little bit underweight. But if he is eating now and looks healthy I would say not to worry because he will put on weight eventually

I would still recommend you take your baby to the vet for a check up, that is what I did with Rafael ( for my own peace of mind) Also even though he is 2kg I can still feel his bones, so I guess that is normal in MC kittens.

Also what are you feeding him? I give Rafa a wide variety of foods. Some raw food like chicken & beef & BARF patties, and some dry food, which is available all day, I'm giving him Royal Canin but I'm going to switch to EVO because it seems it's better for them because it doesn’t contain grains or additives and it has a higher % of protein.

Keep us updated and don't worry I'm sure he is fine

very sad to say Binksy's swabs came back from the vets and he has cat flu - they think he is probably immunocomprimised (hence small weight) so sadly he has gone back to the breeder today - i desperately wanted to keep him but was advised by many people that i could be committing myself to a lifetime of problems (with respiritory problems/cattery problems/never being able to have another cat etc) - even though i have only had him 8 days i feel so sad and will miss my boy very much - thank you to all that have posted in the last week - hopefully i will get another kitten in the next few months :-(

I spoke too soon, his weight has stalled a bit but he has grown at least an inch since we got him last week! He is teething so feeling a bit under the weather, only eating his wet food but not even all of it :( He does chew down lots of cold boiled chicken and cod mixed with his wet though, so he is still getting food in him!

So Raylor gets to go outside on our glassed in patio and there was a grasshopper that made several valiant attempts to escape, but it was caught and EATEN by Raylor. I am not concerned about the raw food discussion, but should I be worried about him eating an insect? Thanks Pat

Nope. Tasty, fun and nutritious Grasshopper and prawns - much the same thing.

Bruce was being entertained very nicely by patting a grasshopper on the bottom last week & just watching it hop,he is too much of a gentlepuss to want to hurt anything,he won't even try & catch a fly, unfortunately a certain nephew came out & before I could grab him the poor grasshopper was caught mid jump, all gorn, dejected Bruce because he had lost his playmate & one smug looking babe.....

Sooooooo sad for you, you must be heartbroken. But as your friends have said better to be upset for a while now than have heartache for longer.
Yes you can get another furbaby soon, give the toys basket etc that Binksy used a real good scrub, and look and think positive about finding another furbaby. Good luck and take care.

My young girl, MeiMei (little Sister in Chinese), came to us at just 3.2 lb. and in 5 weeks went up to 6.4 lb. Grew to nearly double her hight and did double in weaght. Feed, love, exercise and stand back. I was amazed.

A truly lovely name you have for your girl, might be tempted to borrow it in future!
