Neither of my cats really have bad breath, gets it bit pongy after they've eaten but it goes away quickly, Jimmy loves rubbing his face on ours so I get a lot of cat breath
Have you had a look in her mouth??
I think a check up would be best, sounds like she may have a cavity if shes also have trouble crunching kibble.
My Somali is nearly 12 and has a few missing teeth but she can still eat fine.

It imagine it depends on what they're eating but Hank hasn't ever had particularly fresh breath, especially when he yawns in your face! But I think if its so bad you'd consider it REALLY BAD BREATH, then it could be a sign of a gum/tooth infection or something similar. These aren't uncommon and I expect a quick check up with your VET will tell you for certain.
If in doubt, check 'em out. That's what I say. :-)

Sounds like there might be some gum disease going on there perhaps - especially if she appears to struggle eating crunch. Our old moggie had to have a few teeth removed later in life - and it certainly made a difference to the freshness of his breath! A trip to the vets might be in order just to put your mind at rest
