    Poor Shimba....

Thank goodness for having a chiro vet in our practice.
On Saturday I took Bruce up to work for his top up chiro session, there were a few pops up the spine but five minutes later & a good shake a very pleased proud Bruce had been sorted, also took Shimba up,he had slight problem with his back once before but really only took him for a quick check,he wasn't very happy from the start & mid back he got really grumpy with both vet & me so Ken said he had managed to do a bit of adjustment on him but rather than trying to do it all in one go take him back for short episodes during this week. {Have to say Shimba is not so stoic as Bruce at the vets even howls when he has a booster} After this mornings surgery session got him out for Ken to look at him again, all started off fine until he got to the same spot as Saturday when Shims flew round ready to bite so decided to sedate & just xray his spine to make sure things were ok,mum very big at this point, blubbering mess while cat was laying out on the table, nothing more heartbreaking seeing a super 10kg spoilt MC just limp & helpless, especially when its your own, took the xray which thank goodness was fine, feeling really sick by then just in case it shew something bad, while Shims was still under sedation Ken went straight to the spot which was bothering him & the cat still flinched,Ken then went back to the basics & started with him again & it turned out his left sacroiliac joint was fixed just about solid, released that done a thourgh check up the rest of his back all seemed ok & his really sore point gone,it seems as if the fixed joint was interferring with his nerve at that point, once awake before he left Ken just checked Shimba again & got purrs & headbutts as his reward,no pain. I now have a happy boy who has just run & jumped into the middle bed on the cat tree, hasn't done that for a while he has been going the chair arm, windowsill & in route for a good while but I thought he was just being lazy, wrong, note to me,take more notice of your cats change in behaviour mother there could be a problem you are unaware of.Great that it is all sorted without pain killers though.
Do you know the one thing I wished I had done while he was still sedated, measured him,all the staff that kepy coming through to give me moral support got the giggles because of how much of the op table he took up,what an opportunity missed, but I was a very worried mum....!
