HI ,im no expert & you will prolly get a better reply from some of the more experinenced forum members but i had a similar problem which i fixed so i can share what i did.
Firstly until you can stop him eating the others food you will possibly never sort the problem ,with our lil girl the slightest ammount of dry food would set her off even if it was just a mouthfull ,she was on Rc food and sloppy poo was the norm & like you occasional blood, i tried all kinds of dry food and nothing changed, it wasnt untill i switched to an all wet diet that things improved greatly ,there is a parasite that can cause this as well which the standard wormer doest kill i forget the name but im sure someone will post it ,and at one point i beleived our lil girl had this ,but it turned out to be solely her diet .
What i did was find a wet food which mine would eat this happened to be felix as good as it looks ,i then put her on a boiled chicken diet for a few days until the poo firmed up then i started adding felix very slowly into her diet this took almost 10 days until she was on all felix diet ,at which point her poo was firm not text book but a lot better .
I then researched a better quality food than felix ,not to say felix isn't a good food but i beleive there is better foods out there for the money if you can get your cat to eat them ,and after my experience with dry food i will not be going back to it ,i now have mine eating a mixture of bozita pate which is very good and Smilla the poultry and fish pots which she goes mad for both available from zooplus ,she has the occasional raw chicken wing for her teeth .
Following advice given on this forum i also used nutri plus gel during this period to boost the nutriants she might of been losing while trying to fix the problem and i have continued using it and will prolly use till she is at least 2 yrs old ,i tried forti flora which some ppl have had great success with but it didnt really do anything for our lil girl
It is a hard struggle finding the right food it took me almost 6 weeks & at one point i felt total dispair but i now have a very happy lil coonie who goes once a day with a text book poo and all the problems seem a distant memory ,there is a huge amount of advice given in this forum & others with regards diet's and dry v wet food discussions ,but in my opinion & experience i would try a wet food diet only & see how that fairs ,with my lil girl there was somethign in dry food that just didnt agree with her :(
Good luck & i hope you can find a solution quickly as i know exactlly how you feel at mo
