What can you do, might pay to ask the vet if babe could have inj form of baytril to kick start the course at least it has had one days coverage to get it going, seems a bit strange to say its healthy if it has a cold because it isn't,healthy is when there is nothing wrong & it obviously came from the breeder with it,if you can tuck little one into a towel could you get the quarter of a tablet straight down the hatch,if you give it a go remember to hold across the head quite firm & tip head right back, sounds hard but basically he needs to be looking at the ceiling to get a good shot at it... Remember with food they have to smell it to eat it so with a blocked up nose like that he won't be so tempted & most probaly wet would go down a lot easier than dry, just warming it through a bit will give off a lot stronger smell. Put him on some extra vitamins as well you can get some special kitty ones, whatever you can get into him at this point will help build him up....
As for the poo coming home that was bad luck bless him, most probaly it was only the journey,I picked up my first babe at a halfway mark & ended up in the ladies toilets using the hand soap to bath his bottom end.
At least he sounds a happy little fella if he is still playing & hopefully you can soon get him sorted out, fingers crossed for both of you & that you can soon get some serious bonding going....xxx
Hes 3 months old. Hes had 2 of his 3 dose vaccine. The breeder said if he had both vaccines by 12 weeks old, usually they dont need a 3rd. My vet said hed like to do a 3rd next month anyway. I burritoed him earlier and tried the liquid again. I think he swallowed most of it. He did a little drool but not like the first try. I am going to buy a pill shooter tonight.

I would stick with the liquid, remember to put it in the side of his mouth where there is a gap....x

my poor boys caught flu after a show, luckily they didnt get it badly , just went quiet and very obviously felt like we do when we get it . Baytril worked on both of mine , i was given powder and added it to a small amount of tuna which went down well. luckily never had a recurance of it and both in fine fettle now. Good luck with your new babe , my vet advised as jackie did to warm food up to make it smelly and lots of tlc just like you would want if you felt low.

Just an update for everyone. After several days on Baytril, we saw no results. I spoke to the breeder who has another kitten with a similar issue, her vet gave her Azithromycin. That seemed to be helping her other kitten, so my vet gave me Azithromycin as well. We are on day 4 of a 5 day dose of Azithromycin 0.68 ml per dose. I am seeing less sneezing but he is still sneezing. There is less nasal discharge but its still there. He still gets a crusty nose and its still fairly thick mucus. He tries to smell everything but I can tell he is still stuffy.
The vet checked his mouth and said its is fine. Hes eating well. I am free feeding him dry ( id estimate he eats about a cup a day) and 1/2 3oz can of wet in the morning and the other half at night. Hes full of energy, very wild! Hes all play! Hes pooping about 3 times a day. I had the vet check is poops and he said it was fine. I am just worried because there is only 1 dose left of Azithromycin and hes still having symptoms. The vet said this med is strong and should work. He doesnt want to do any bloodwork on him yet because hes so young and believes this will pass. Hes due for his 3 vaccine shot in 2 weeks. I am nervous for him to get this 3rd shot being that these symptoms came after his 2nd vaccine.

I am not sure if I am over-reacting here because this is my first kitten. The breeder is telling me he will be fine its just a virus that has to run its course. The vet is basically saying the same. He seems perfectly fine, its just this sneezing and congestion. Its been about 2 weeks now since Ive had him. How long do these things usually take to pass?
