    Ginger is getting spayed tomorrow

My little baby Ginger is growing up so fast, I can not believe she is already old enough to be spayed. I am as nervous as if it were myself! I drop her off at 7:00am and pick her up in the evening around 5:00pm. It is a reputable vet but I am on pins and needles. I think what makes me the most nervous is having a Elizabethan collar on her for two whole weeks! auughhh I am sure this will pass too! Wish my little pooper luck!Ginger is getting spayed tomorrow-photo-99-.jpg

Good luck to both Ginger & mum, another forum member I know is having the same flutterflies for Friday....
I do think it's a shame they dole out those collars,in the forty years of working at a vets we have never done that & don't even have to use one hand to count the number of cats that have had problems but for the last ten ish years our vet has used buried sutures under the skin so all you see is a narrow line & nothing else, the only give away is the shaved area, now that is a very big bonus.....
Just think of the staff who will be able to have bonus cuddles while mum is at home worrying.....
    Look forward to updates afterwards....xxx

Thank you, her daddy got up this morn at 4:45 and Miss Ginger was like "what! wheres my food???" then if that was not bad enough he put her tower in the spare room for a few weeks while she recovers, she kept looking at the spot by the window where it was and shaking her little kitty head. She was very good while I drove her to the vet, now the waiting begins. I am sure she is getting cuddles while I chew my nails!

Not home yet, the vet called and said the surgery went well and that Ginger was awake and alert. I pick her up in a half hour. My two beagles are looking everywhere for her! So funny how fast animals bond!

Ginger is getting spayed tomorrow-img_9923.jpg Ginger is home, snuggling on her favorite blanket! The vet said Miss Ginger was going into her first cycle, so she was a little engorged. wow talk about timing, she was just at the vet two weeks ago getting her rabies shot and we discussed when we should spay her, not a moment too soon! I thought MC matured slow, guess not hahaha now to go give my baby some rubbies on her little head!

Glad to hear she is home safe and sound. Don't envy the collar ordeal, especially once she starts feeling better. It was difficult to keep Buzz and Baxter quiet after the first day but then boys have a easier time of it. Maybe the collar will slow her down? Keep us posted.

So very glad that all went well Ginger .... you look wonderfully comfortable snuggled in your blanket ... make sure that Mum gives you loads of extra cuddles! Lily goes in tomorrow morning, am sure that I won't have any fingernails left by lunchtime! Although everything went really well with Tess when she was done - so I shouldn't be worriting!

Neevie got spayed just when she was going through a cycle too, and she reacted quite violently - her body "thought" she had just given birth, she grew "boobs" (well, the feline equivalent ;-)) and worse, she got very very very territorial - unfortunately, we had it done just before we had to leave her at a cattery for 3 weeks. With all the other cats smells, in a territory that wasn't hers, she went absolutely bonkers. I had never seens a cat go bonkers before, now that's added to the list of my experiences. We had to abandon the idea of the cattery, and she was fed at home by the owner of the cattery while we were away. Even so, every time he got in, he got violently attacked. A Feliway plug-in seems to have helped some, but not a lot.
When we got back she was OK with us (we were part of her territory I guess) but no guest could set foot in the house for at least 3 months after that. Now she's fine, but we do keep the feliway plugged in just in case.
I hope this doesn't happen to Ginger. If it does... well, it's temporary...
