    Potential health problems

Hey guys I am brand new in this website (my first time posting). BTW my name is Kim

My husband and I are looking into getting a Maine Coon kitten from a breeder local to us. I have been doing some research on them and have found a lot of helpful information thus far but I have one main question.

How serious is the hip dysplacia issue with main coon cats? I found this link Hip Dysplacia in this site but I am not sure if the member is talking about a maine coon cat. I am assuming they are since this is a maine coon forum but wanted to ask. I also found an article All About Maine Coon Cats | Brief History Of The Maine Coon Cat from http://petupon.com/ where it says
They are prone to a hereditary disease called hip dysplasia which causes crippling and arthritis.
Can anyone here speak from experience about this issue?

Ok so I just saw this Known medical conditions and it says the same thing. I guess I am looking for some more detailed info.
