    She stop eating much

    Hi everyone,

Can anyone advise me of what to do? TIA.
Suddenly I found out that she's not trying to finish her food on her plate. Before she can finish that in one day but now she can't. Last grooming day, they said that she's thin and they advise me to feed her more. She's 13 months old.
I saw this forum and I'm glad I found it. Hope you can guide me as I leave my life with Cookie.

    Thank you.

    Shes stop eating as much

    Hi,
How much does she weigh ? Does she seem happy in herself ? Have you noticed a loss in her energy levels ?Any changes in her behavior ?
If any of the basics have changed then perhaps a visit to the vet might be in order just to get her checked over but if everything else remains the same then I would just monitor her.She is getting to the age where she will most probaly slow up on her eating,if she is having a growth spurt that can put them off for a while & then suddenly they go back to eating everything again, you can't make any animal eat more than what they want but perhaps try feeding her in smaller amounts & more often,I have a seven year old who is really lean & boney so not all MC's are well covered a lot depends on their breeding lines.
I am sure more people will pop up with advice but as I said to start with if you post her weight people with cats the same age as her will add the weights of their cats about the same age & that again will give you a good idea of what to expect from her...

Hello and welcome to the forum.
There could be many reasons why your Cookie eats less than she used to.
It would be helpful if you told us a bit more about her.

Welcome to the Forum, I agree with comments earlier, have you more information.

Here are some questions for you.

    Has she recently been wormed?
Has she got a runny bottom?
Is she acting normal other than the not eating?
How is her mouth? are her gums red do her teeth look good?

Cookie weigh 4kg (8.8lbs). Nothing change. She's always right in front of my door every time I went back home. She's playful when I started playing with her. And when I'm busy doing some work at home, she stays beside me or on the couch sleeping.
I'm feeding her Royal Canin Kitten 36 (dry food) for 13 years and then I just bought this Royal Canin Maine Coon 31 for adult because I think she may not like her food already. I always make sure she has food on her plate everyday.
I always take her for grooming every week and I'm so busy it will take 2 weeks.
Last monday, we went for her grooming and the people who usually take care of her told me that she's getting thiner. And they ask me if I comb her at home I said sometimes. They told me to buy this "mybeau vitamins and minerals:, Tasty Oil Supplement.
I like her taste it from my finger and she ate likes it. But if I already place that to her plate with her food, she did not finish it.
I'm worried and I really appreciate all your suggestions and advise.

Has she recently been wormed? No
Has she got a runny bottom? No
Is she acting normal other than the not eating? Yes
    How is her mouth? Normal
are her gums red do her teeth look good? No, its seems good to me.

    Shes stop eating as much

I have never had a female MC at that age {one was older when she arrived & the other one because of problems stiil weighs less than that} but I would have said its still a pretty good weight for a girl as she still has another three years of growing to do.I would think the groomers noticed a difference because she had a growth spurt.Because of the content of adult food they seem to eat less of it anyway, its like baby formulas as they grow & move up to richer ones there is far less in the bottle.....!
Extra vitamins wont hurt her anyway, try her on a different brand of food, try her on wet food but only in very small amounts if she has never had any before,do as Candes suggests & routine worm her just in case.At 13 months she is not too far away from her annual check up & booster so you could always discuss any worries with your vet then.
We now know more about her,a picture would be welcomed.

    I agree with the others.
Worm her, and take her to the vet for a check-up.
Try different foods, and introduce some wet food as jckkerrison suggests. Perhaps Cookie will like a nice chunck of fresh salmon … most cats adore it and it has plenty of ‘good fat’ in it.

Don’t worry about the Tasty Oil Supplement… our Coonies too will eat certain foods out of my hand but not from their plates. Cats are funny creatures…

One more question: has she been spayed? Non-spayed kitties usually put on weight less quickly than spayed ones.

Good luck! And if you can find the time, do try to post pics of her… we love pictures!

It sounds to me like she is a good weight, although if she has not been wormed they she could need it but as you are going to your vets for her annual check up I would let them take a good look at her. She sounds very happy with what you describe, and it could just be a growing spurt, they do have these and seem to look long and skinny!

Hi - My Sarah is a long lean MC and at almost exactly 13 months had a huge growth spurt and became longer and during that time became what I thought was quite skinny. I was getting a bit worried but then she put on weight again and a couple of months later she did it again.

She weighed about 4.25 kg at 18 months so your kitty sounds about on track if she is her size. She has slowly put on weight since

She will be 2yrs old in Feb and now weighs 5.9 kg weighed at vet on 4/12/10

I do make sure they are up to date with worming and do all 3 a the same time

Here is Sarah on the bottom rung ( nearly 2yrs) with Zack ( 11 months)

Thank you very much to all of you!!! I feel at home here and Cookie too!
My worries are gone and I will do your suggestions.
Where can I post some of her pictures her? Expect to hear from me soon because I'm really new to MC. I'm her boyfriend.

    Here's Cookie saying "Merry Christmas!!!"
