My Rosie was done at 6 months. She was SO upset by the Elizabethan collar she came home wearing.
I bought her a small baby vest with poppers, put that on and took her collar off. She did not scratch the wound at all, and we were both much happier. She also liked it and looked quite cute. Good Luck
