    How chatty is your catty?

The MC I have is more chatty than the Siamese catty I had years ago and thy are known for being "talkers"! From the time I get up til the time I go to sleep, Ginger is mewing and chirping and carrying on. So my question is, are all Maine Coons so talkative, or just mine?

heehee - chirping, yeah that describes Neevie.
In fact she has a whole vocab, she has a sound for every occasion, there's the one for "what are you still doing in bed it's food time" when HO opens the bedroom door in the morning - "good morning please pick me up in your arms" when I finally come out - "I'm hungry" when I'm the kitchen - "I SAID I'M HUNGRY" when I'm preparing my coffee before feeding her - "wanna play?" (sounds like "mrrrr?" and sometimes accompanied by the "thud" of the ball dropping on the floor not too far) - "giggle giggle" also sounds a bit like "mrrr" but different - there's my favorite "I want a cuddle and it's very urgent" sounds like a squeek and sometimes accompanied by a paw stretched on my arm.... who could resist, honestly?
each sound is very different from each other and very expressive.
She doesn't talk unless there's something she wants... so she usually gets what she wants... ;-)
even if there's something she doesn't want, like being tickled on her back just above the tail, which she hates so I just like to do it, usually she doesn't talk, she gives me THE LOOK and you just know it's your last warning before things become serious. I have posted "the look" picture in the gallery, I find it SO expressive.

Lol yup Marshall is very chatty he has somthing to say about everything! I can hold a full convo with him! Zelda is much quieter she's only vocal at dinner time and when she uses the tray! Both like to shout for me if I'm in a different room to make sure I'm still about!

I love the "LOOK" that is funny and I think sometimes Ginger just checks to see where I am, if I am not making any noise. I go to pick her up and cuddle her and she is like "no I am good" just checking on your whereabouts, little monster!

Neevie did that today, kind of - I was in the garden, watering my plants - then I came back and she was all over me, talking insistantly, and going around me like she hadn't seen me for a long time - then when I went to pick her up she also went "nah I'm good" - doh!

@Alekto, we have two Maine Coons, Dixie and Wile E. Dixie chirps mostly but Wile E is the most vocal cat I've ever had or heard. He sounds a lot like your kitty with all the different statements, questions and comments. Sometimes at night before he comes to bed, he runs around the house chirping with the volume turned up. I'm curious, is you Neevie a silver. Our Wile E is a silver.

Neevie is beautiful. She looks more like a tortie. Her coloring is more like my Dixie's.
