Obviously not being able to see it is hard to be sure what could be done but for sure think that would be up to a vet to decide not the owners....if it is fresh they might try to staple or put in a couple of stitches to help pull it together,very often furries that have torn ears are left with battle scars but it is normally only a small niche if it has had proper attention..... It is possible for a claw to hook & tear in play etc but would have felt a lot happier if the reply was oh thanks we will get it straight down to the vets...... You very often find that the newest breeders are the ones that are trying very hard to establish themselves & one would expect to want to make sure all is ok,not saying of course that they might also have cream added in to help with the healing process.....
