I dont like collars for the same reason as Woodsi has said, I got our old MC one & within about 5 mins he had his back foot stuck in it & was chocking himself it was suppose to release itself if a cat got stuck but this did'nt & I so glad I was in the same room or ARG! dosent bare thinking about.

I don't think there is much point on a collar anyway especially if they are indoor cats. And if not, if a cat disappears it is probably because a)it's been stolen in which case a collar is useless as can be just removed or b)it's got hurt somewhere (collar not much good there either) or c) lost in which case we hope some honest nice person finds a cat and they are more than likely to either take it to a local vet in which case they would look for a microchip or they are a neighbour that knows you and your cats. I think collars are dangerous on cats too - if they are outside they could get caught up on any number of things so a big no no in my opinion.

Collars
Well Scrapdragon do you think DH is overuled well & truly now about the wearing of collars, some good reasons now you can show him,as I said earlier I have seen some really nasty things concerning them & not only cats, one client had two puppies {rather large breed} & had put soft collars on so they got used to wearing them, left them on at night & when they came down in the morning one of the pups had got its foot through the collar of the other one,it had obviously tried to pull it out & had twisted round & the other pup had been strangled with its siblings foot still caught, the one that was still alive had problems as well as the circulation had been cut off where the collar was wrapped round its leg, what a nightmare for them & so sad.

Thanks everyone... yes I think he's well and truly overruled...

I think because here in rural Western Australia if a cat is caught without a collar on people automatically assume it's a feral cat.
Gryfn won't be be going outside so I think I'm going to overrule DH on this one.... and I know he won't like it...
