My two aren't shedding too bad, but I'm in the UK. It's been relatively hot here but I'm counting my blessings the MC's don't seem to be affected too much. They are losing fur a little more than usual and are sicking up fur balls, thats the only downside; they've always done this but it is more increased lately. :(

For some reason Sid shed madly a couple of months ago when it was still cool. I used Thrive cat treats, a FURMINATOR and someone to pin him to the carpet whilst I attacked him - only took about 6 goes and all the loose fluff was gone. The best bit about him, compared to "normal" cats is the way our house has no cat hair anywhere apart from one week each year when it us everywhere!

It must be the fact that Lacey is an indoor cat, and it doesn't get much above 78 degrees since we use the air conditioning, but she doesn't have any major shedding, which is nice since she has a huge amount of fur. Before grooming I show her the brush and let her sniff it and then do the easy parts first that she doesn't mind, such as her head, face and the long hair beginning under her chin. I then gently roll her to one side and brush out the fur in her armpits which seems to tangle easily and then on to her tummy and back. She gets a little treat afterwards and that works pretty well. We adopted her in April as a 9-year-old and are still feeling our way in how to best treat her and make her comfortable with us.
P.S. Rosso is an absolute cutie, right down to his big, fluffy paws!

I am coping by knitting another Maine Coon from all the spare fur... ;-)
