I think you need to set boundaries. Make a sound of pain and annoyance (but obviously don't be physical) and he might soon figure out you don't like it.

This morning's update:

I think your advice is spot on Peter, this looks like it will work out in the long run. This morning I did eventually manage to get Jones to leave me alone after many cross/grumpy/pained noises. He seemed completely oblivious to whatever sounds I was making at first and it took me a while to realise why - he has never heard me do that before so has no frame of reference in his tiny kitten brain! Normally if he's being naughty a firm 'no' is enough to make him stop what he's doing (although not without a protest meow!) and he's never bitten hard enough or scratched during playfighting to hear anyone sound hurt.

He did come back after he finished fighting for a face smell and a lie down next to me, so I'll let him off, cute little monkey harbl that he is.

I had this until one day I decided to lift the duvet and put it down on top of Moofie. He snuggled down quite content! Now he comes in and gets under the duvet by himself and no more digging or attacking (well - at the moment anyways).

I did try this one time however I think Jones was so happy to finally have access to his nemesis beneath the sheets he still completely failed to notice it was me!

He will occasionally sleep on one corner at the foot of the bed, it's a rare treat if he graces us with his presence at the head end for any period of time!

Right, well Jones has now decided that we're the faking grumpy/hurt noises and just carries on digging.

If I sit up to remove him from the bed he runs away first and returns when I lie down again! Some sort of evil genius cat. I think I'm just going to have to resort to shutting him out for 10-15 minutes, the next time he refuses to stop.

It's weird because he's pretty well behaved the entire time apart from this one thing, the only other 'naughty' activity he gets up to is occasionally scratching at the lounge carpet, but a stern 'No' and he stops straight away in that situation (albeilt with a grumbly chirp just so I know how annoyed he is at me ruining his fun).

Yes, I've had a bit of bed digging and attacking here over the last couple of days. We have progressed from under the duvet to on top again. The thing is, he never attackes my daughter's when they are in bed, he is quite happy to snuggle down next to them. One thing that did occur to me - we have a feather and goose down duvet and they have synthetic one's. Could it be the feathers that set them off, what do you have Kobbs?
