    What about one of those large see-through plastic mats that are used under office chairs to spare the floor or carpet? I suspect it depends on the radius of the mess

    You could try to feed him his meat someplace where there's no carpet. I know some people feed raw stuff in the bathroom/shower, or even in the bathtub. Very easy to clean afterwards.

    Thanks guys, all really helpful suggestions! Might try getting a few of the large mats and creating a kitten-food-proof area for him
