    hi Fiona - I had my Neevie and a little 2 months old kitten chipped in the past 2 years.
    The needle the chip is implanted with looks impressive - the first time I saw it I though there's no way that's going through - but strangely it doesn't seem to hurt them much - Neevie didn't make a sound, though she did try to escape when the Vet grabbed her but that's a reflex for her, the little one squeeled a little bit but it was more akin to "hey what are you doing" rather than "aw aw aw aw aw!" - they don't like it, but it's over very fast and then it's done.
