Ava Sharon has arrived!
We brought her home on Monday evening (it's Wed morning now) and so far everyone still has all their fur. It's not been plain sailing, though. Sidney took one look at Ava, widdled all over the kitchen floor, turned into a hedgehog and started wailing like a banshee.
Ava is used to living in a seriously multi-cat household and has made it very clear that she thinks Sid is properly weird! She is basically ignoring him, which is quite a challenge as everywhere she goes he is a metre behind, looking prehistoric, somehow, and continuously grumbling. At least the wailing has mostly stopped now, and for chunks of time he can just watch her in silence.
Ava has been an angel, very nicely behaved, affectionate and is eating and drinking well. She is currently flaked out on the bed next to me!

Lol - she's gorgeous! When we brought Beau home, Dixie didn't notice he was there for the first few minutes - it was hilarious when all of a sudden she noticed him and immediately also did her hedgehog impression! Beau was very much the same as Ava - he'd come straight from a house full of other cats and just didn't see what the big deal was. Dixie's face when he walked straight up & started munching 'her' biscuits was a picture! They'll be best friends in no time and you'll have great fun watching them chasing each other around!

Ava is a cutie! I had to smile when I imagined the scenes you were describing. I'm sure poor Sid wasn't the least amused to have this stranger suddenly foisted on him. It will take some time but I take it as a good sign that he hasn't attacked her, and the fact that she acts unconcerned will probably help a lot. He must be wondering why this little kitty isn't impressed by big, bad Sid. Fortunately, he's still a young cat (and quite beautiful, by the way) and I have a feeling that everything will turn out nicely, and he'll come to enjoy his little sister.

Sid is gorgeous, isn't he?
Well, I sprayed the whole house with Feliway and Sid woke up on Thursday feeling a whole lot better. The pair of them spent a couple of hours playing chase the ping pong ball, ate each overs food, used each other's litter trays then crashed out for the afternoon.
When they woke up, Sid showed Ava how to get onto the windowsill - it's just taken 3 days!

The picture of the two of them on the windowsill is adorable. You can tell from Sid's expression that he is now friends with his little "sister".
