Unhappy 8 Month Old Kitten Urinating on Furniture .. HELP??!!

PLEASE HELP. I am new to this, this is my first kitten. I have an 8 month old red Maine Coon. Over the past 3 days he has been urinating on my couch. He is using the litter box as well. A week or so ago he was urinating on my bed and has now moved to the couch. I had him checked at the vet and he was put on an antibiotic 2 weeks ago for inflammatory but no UTI was found in his test results. I bought Nature's Miracle Stain and Odor remover with the repellant in it. I sprayed this all over the couch and he still urinated on it. I don't know what else to do. If any one has advice, it is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you !

You say he is fine using the litter tray so my first thoughts are the type of litter you are using. Some litter materials can stick to the kittens feet and then go with them carrying the ordur which signals to them it's time to go...
This seem most likely as the areas they are urinating are places I imagine they may sleep for extended periods allowing the odour to sink in. Urine odours are notoriously difficult to shift even with off the shelf cleaners and removers and not only this but can serve to be another signal for the kitten to urinate just like the litter tray smells.

One tactic I used on one of my MC's when they were a kitten was to contentiously pick them up give them affection then gently place them within the litter tray. More often than not they would go and overtime become more use to taking themselves to the litter tray giving the areas they have urinated previously a chance to air out. I know this may be hard if you are away in the day but even just doing this in the evenings may serve to aid the problem along with experimenting with additional litter materials.

Did you get this issue sorted out yet? You might try Precious Cat Dr. Elsey's Kitten Attract Scoopable Cat Litter. We started Buzz and Baxter on it when they came home after Baxter had a couple of accidents. It might be worth a try. It's a little expensive but lasts 3-4 weeks. Be sure to keep the box spotless. You might also try a different box. We have our box in the laundry room. I spent a lot of time in there with the washer and dryer running so they would not be afraid of the noise. I didn't want to chance not using the litter box because the machines were in use. Keep us posted.
