My Rocco was the largest among the 4 kittens in the litter at 16 weeks old. He had really big paws and thick legs. He grew up to be not tall or big weighing at only 8.77kg at 22 months old. Had I been given the opportunity to look at the sire and dam; I would not have chosen to buy from this local breeder. I eventually got to see the sire at a catshow a few months later and my Rocco bears no resemblance at all aside from being the same colour.

My Merlin was also the largest in a litter of 7 kittens. Buying him based on the recommendation of the breeder in Poland, who selected him for me, he turned out to be a HUGE cat. He is tall, big and long, weighing at 11.36kg at exactly 18 months old today. His sire is 14kg and the dam is 6kg.

I believe that you should have a good relationship and trust with the breeder you are getting your kittens from. If this is not an option, just by looking at the size of the sire and dam is only 50/50 chance that you get a big cat. Diet and exercise also plays an important part in the size of a cat aside from genetics.
