Very smelly discharge
Sure sounds like anal glands, and yes it stinks, they use if for marking territory when thy poo so yes is normal, but can evacuate them at other times, sometimes if they are frightened & in Welly's case when Brian has him sitting on his lap & I am combing him {Welly of course} & I lift up his hind leg to do his trousers he does it every time, don't know why,if he is sitting on my lap & I am grooming him on my own no problem. They can sometimes become blocked & infected but does seem to occur more in dogs than cats, sometimes if they are blocking up they give off a horrendous bad fishy smell & then it is worth taking them to the vets to get them emptied, again does happen more in dogs than cats,but.....When animals rub their bottoms along the ground a lot of people run to get wormers when in fact it is the anal glands that are the problem.
What I luv is meeting a client out & about & they say "Oh,glad I have seen you it reminds me that I need to book an appointment for Charlie to have his anal glands emptied",great,do I look like an animals backside.......Yep !
