Chris,
When the kids are over it is all games and no drinking, for them at least. Our kids have to drive to our house and they don't drink and drive. None of them do, the law in our state takes that very seriously. Now me and the hubby may have a beer or cocktail to relax, but we are not driving so it is okayWhen its nice out we like to relax on the patio with a few beers and fire up the chimnia. Our summers are short and we love to sit outside in the evening listening to music and relax. The sound of birds chirping, owls hooting and Beagles baying, oh dang Bentley and Rex will you ever stop?, this is my daydream! hahaha

well I agree with the law in your state - that is serious - we don't drink and drive any more - used to, to be honest, when we were younger - "but I only had a beer" kind of thing - but then we realised one day that we did take the wheel the night before when we were a bit iffy and it scared us - we could have injured someone or worse, and none of us could have lived with it - now, we make sure we let enough time pass to evacuate all the alcohol from our system - we make sure we measure our intake.
in 1 liter of 12 % alcohol wine - if we get half a bottle each it means about 5 points (1 bottle is not 1liter it's 0.75l) - it takes 1 hour for the alcohol to start going through our system, then 5 hours to evacuate completely => we don't drive for 6 hours after we started drinking.
we know also that if we take more than 8 points, from then it's 1.5 hours per point we have to wait - so if we take 7 points, then we have to wait 8 hours, but if we take 9 points, then we have to wait 13 and a half hours because the body can only easily evacuate 8 points but then it starts struggling.
we usually calculate very wide to make sure none of it is left.
