Very true, though Amber sometimes wishes they would sometimes leave her alone... she gets too warm and thats only with them two

Wait until you see him on Friday with his home made jacket to protect his stump... fingers crossed it all goes well and he keeps it on!

Just edited my post to add this... I was at my computer desk, turned around and Teddy was standing on the electric blanket about to get comfortable. And he looked like an absolute giant standing there!!! What happened to my wittle baby! Wah!!!!

And done they grow so fast, when I look at MJ now running along side his daddy, he is not as big as Jet, yet but not far off!

Hi Debbie,must have missed something somewhere ,why has Poseidon got to have a limb amputated ...?

He was born with a deformed back leg, I have had it before with an Abyssinian when there were too many kittens inside the mama,he was one of 6 and they where big kittens the Abyssinians leg went right in the end just looked funny for about 4 weeks, but Poseidon's didn't. he has been for xrays and stuff and the leg is perfect it has just never come down so he walks on on knee on his hind. they talked about sorting out the ligaments but there is no guarantee it will work and they think it will involve more than one surgery, so my thoughts and my new vets are, that to take the leg off would be kinder.

He will have it off on Friday, its not really causing him any issues other than sometimes he get fluid in the knee which I drain off with as needle, but he is starting to walk lobsided and I am worried his back will be damaged if he is not sorted, so we decided to wait until he was old enough to be castrated and have the 2 done at once.

Oh bless him,as you say better gone,it is marvellous how they soon adapt,lucky him to have both an owner & vet agree on making one clean sweep to remove both testicles & limb at the same time,I sometimes think there is far too much,dare I say it,fannying around without thought given to what the animal is actually going through,some people wouldn't be able to bear the idea of an animal with a limb missing so would go through all the rest first to still have to resort to amputation.
Give him a cuddle from us & will watch to see how he gets on....x

He manages now, but he is walking very strange it was not so bad when he was a kitten but now he is almost 6 months old and his back is growing funny, because he is leaning funny, its hard to explain.. We had a long consultation with the vet, putting him under 2 narcosis was not for us what we wanted..basically to do the other they would have to do like a stretching of ligaments and they could ping at any time, so why put him through it.

Some people who shall remain nameless stated that he was better off dead, sorry I do not agree he is full of life, always in to mischief climbs around like a nutter and can give the big cats a run for their money!! I am confident we have made the right choice, just not going to be easy to keep him quiet after the operation..
