Well as I am not going to go out and kill birds for the cat the raw meat diet is the next best thing I think. I understand not everyone agrees with raw feeding but I am more than happy to do it.
And Chris I totally understand where you are coming from and I won't be giving wings I don't think until they are older as you can get groundup bone in the meat which will help and I might even try burshing the cats teeth as that has been suggested, have to see how tolarant the kittys are though as I can see me loosing a finger lol. And I just want to do the best for the kittens really so this is the route I have chosen.
I was just wondering really how to switch the kittens from the Royal Canin stuff, but I suppose the answer is a mixing the raw in with the royal canin and increasing the raw content until they are on totally raw food.

Hi there, just wanted to give some encouragement on raw feeding, as I have been doing it successfully now for nearly 3 years. You are right, it is the next best thing to them going out and killing their own small creatures to eat. In fact, some raw feeders try to replicate this by using the 'raw prey model', i.e., sourcing frozen mice, chicks etc to feed their cats. This is a step too far for me personally, so I use a couple of local raw food suppliers for bone-in minces, chicken, etc, plus my local butchers for heart, tongue and offal.
It's a question of making sure you achieve the correct balance for them, and finding out what they like and where to source it locally or online.
There is a lot of debate about the pros and cons of raw feeding, I would just say you are on the right track and please do your research first. A great place to start is here:

My MC's first solid food was a bird killed by his mother when he was 5 weeks old. He ate almost all of it, and growled at me when I came near him when he was eating it.
My MC was a gift from God (someone dropped the pregnant mother off and she had Spartacus in my flower garden)...his mommy would not let him eat the kitten food I prepared for him...she would keep him away from it. She'd cover it up with dirt and leaves so he couldn't eat it. After Sparta's first solid food of the bird, she was killed the very next day by a car (she was wild, I couldn't catch her to bring her into a safe place). Spartacus has been on a 90% raw diet since then. He is 3 years old now, very healthy and LARGE!
